BARBAN AT THE END OF OCTOBER

in Weekend Experiences2 years ago

My weekend experiences are often related to driving around and exploring woods, meadows, small towns, or villages in the area that goes from twenty-thirty to about a hundred kilometers from where I live.

(Enlargeable)

This time, which means today, I drove about forty kilometers north of my hometown and visited another small town. The one called Barban.

This photograph was taken on the way from the place in which I left my car to the old town surrounded by the remains of the old walls that were protecting Barban in Medieval times.

This is a detail from the quadrangular tower, the best-preserved piece of the Medieval fortification.

I entered through the main gate built in 1718.

This is the most iconic building in Barban. As almost always in the case of small towns in this region, it's a church. The Parish Church of St. Nicholas.
It was built in 1700 on the remains of the smaller church that was part of the medieval castle.

This lovely building behind the church and connected with it was built a century earlier, in 1606.

That palace was one of the properties of the Venetian family Loredan which had a big influence on this region during the centuries dominated by the Venetian Republic.

On the way to this old neighborhood across the square from the church's lateral facade ...

... I passed by a very old-fashioned butcher shop. I haven't seen this kind of store since my childhood. It looks like an entrance to someone's house. An ordinary groundfloor apartment. The signboard is extremely small by today's standards.

(Enlargeable)

Here I zoomed in so you can take a better look and see the telephone number of the owner. You can call him sometimes if you like.

In this photograph, you can see the church from a different angle.

Here you can take a good frontal look at one of the old houses across the square from the church and explore all the details on its facade. Especially if you enlarge the picture by clicking on it.

Here you can see a fairly new porch and the front facade of an equally old house made of stone.

This building is outside the gate of the old town. The photograph was taken on the way back to the car. On the ground floor, there is a grocery store and a cafe.

Before entering the car and driving away, I passed by the same stand with colorful tangerines on display.

AND THAT'S IT. THIS WEEKEND EXPERIENCE ENDS HERE. AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK.

The place really is well preserved, just like in historical fiction where people had lesser stress in life and had beautiful streets☺☺

The Whole Town is Giving a Peaceful Vibes and Great to See Buildings, Towns and Gates or Architectures Built 100 Years Old are Still Keeping the Traditional value Alive.

Awesome Place to Spend Life and Visit on Weekends!

Have Fun and Great Day ahead.

All this ancient churches do stay for long time, I just do wonder how they were built that their structures were destroyed till now.. it was a nice experience.
