It isn't the whole waterfall. It's just the highest fall. It's called like that because of the sound it makes. And I believe because stuff that drops from it hardly survives.

Like everything. Anyways, that's a name the locals gave it. They must have their reasons to call it that.
It is an awe-inspiring place to visit.
As far as I remember, Brazil doesn't require visa for tourism. You just need to have a passport that has at least 6 months away from it expiration date.
