If you have never been close to a waterfall as big as Iguazu Falls, chances are you haven't experienced rain during a cloudless day. Yeah, is something like that.
The waterfalls are majestic. They cover a big part of the territory, so it's not only in Brazil, but part of them are also in Argentina. They are part of the Iguazu River and their highest fall is 80m high. It's known as the Devils Throat.
I remember that back when I was there in 2012, I hadn't been near such big waterfalls. I had seen some in Venezuela. But I wasn't in my country.
Being near the falls is loud. There's a lot of water coming down. I have no photos of the lookout made to be near the falls because we thought the camera would go kaput from all the splashing.
Here you can see the walkways made to get near the action. You can see many animals around and the way and as you get closer to the waterfalls, the very volume goes up until the only thing you can listen to is the roar of water falling.
If you look closely, you can see the boats that take people near the waterfalls. They actually go as close as possible to the Devil's Throat. I wonder why people would want this. The noise would be unbearable. Besides, the whole movement on the river would make the boat rock a lot.
The place is beautiful nonetheless. In modern times, this places has been listed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. And once you get to the last lookout, you can see why. There's a moment of peace when your eardrums cancel the noise and you can stand still and look at the rainbows produced by the water drops suspended on the air.
When you are in such a moment, it feels like you commune with nature. The fact that the lookout is at a good distance is a sign of respect for this monument of nature. I'd love to go back again and take some better photos of the place.
Brazil has many beautiful landscapes. It is the biggest country we have near, so there's a lot to explore. I remember getting to Iguazu took us a while day in bus from Curitiba. The place is huge!
Being around bodies of water and waterfall has some sort of soothing effect on people from the coast. Yes, we stand in awe at the place, but since we are used to water, the whole sound and feeling reminds us of home. I guess you could say we are only missing the salt.
I think that of I go back there, I might go on the boat to the Devil's Throat and see what that is about. But I'd buy some earplugs first. It could make for some good content.

This is so beautiful!, honestly I have not seen as many natural wonders as I would like, here in Mexico there are several, but nothing like the Devil's Throat, I want so much to know that place, it must be incredible the sound, the smell, everything 😍.

I didn't have a photo of the Devil's Throat, but you can actually see it since it's all covered in must and foam. The place is beautiful. It's a very relaxing wall through the woods and walkways to get to the falls.

I imagine it must be a difficult place to take pictures, because of what you say about the amount of water and the camera going kaput. 😅
Yes, better to prevent losing your camera when there's still a lot of travelling to do.😅

What a beauty, if one is stunned by a waterfall, seeing several together must be wonderful.
I have seen several all in Venezuela, in Bolivar state in the park, drizzle and cachamai and just last weekend I met some beautiful waterfalls in Barinas state, just yesterday I posted some pictures.
But that noise is relaxing if it is one, the Cathars of Iguazu are a monument that I would like to see.
This year they were afraid the river was going to destroy the walkways. There's been a lot of rain and the volume of water has risen a lot. It might be a lot more dangerous and whole lot more beautiful.

I have never been to such a majestic place, I dream of one day being able to go, the most I have been to the nearest beaches, I would love to be able to see the falls, and capture that moment, a magical place without a doubt. 😍
They are great. But the problem is taking the photos near them. Too mucho water everywhere. Make sure you bring a raincoat 😅😂

I have been to Victoria Falls, which borders on Zambia and Zimbabwe and they took my breath away.

It isn't the whole waterfall. It's just the highest fall. It's called like that because of the sound it makes. And I believe because stuff that drops from it hardly survives.

Like everything. Anyways, that's a name the locals gave it. They must have their reasons to call it that.
It is an awe-inspiring place to visit.
