Would you...

It was cute, he said it like he was asking me out on a date and I most happily said yes.

We'd had a big day of work and other things that had left us feeling worn out and feeling quite hard done by; life is tough sometimes. We'd just finished dinner and were chatting a little about nothing at all then, with that crooked smirk and that look he does with his eyes that always makes me feel weak at the knees, he asked me to go out with him the following day.

I said yes.

We went for as drive in the countryside to a small town we both love about an hour away and had lunch at lovely little country pub then wandered the high street stopping in at the little shops there: Antiques and curiosities, gift and craft shops and some really funky clothing shops mainly.

We'd no intention of buying anything although sometimes things just have to come home with me and I ended up buying some scented candles. I saw a lovely coat that would go perfectly with an outfit I have at home and a pair of tall boots I love but I decided not to buy it despite my guy urging me to; I have something similar, a different color, that will be serviceable for another year so I didn't want to spend the money...it looked good on me though and now I wish I'd bought it.

Our cafe was open, the one we always visit when in this area, and we sat there talking and just being together I guess and we began talking about our early days when we first met. I asked if, knowing what he knows now, would he want to pursue me like he did then. It was a trick question because if he said no I'd have hit him really hard with the croissant he was eating, but he gave the right answer and avoided croissant injuries. He returned serve with, would you?

The answer was also yes as he knew it would be, and we laughed about it before the conversation moved towards some of the amazing things we've done and experiences we've had together and those we look forward to in the future.

It was a nice date but really it wasn't so much a date as us just living the life we have created around and between us. We have a very busy and complex life and sometimes it's difficult to maintain an equilibrium but we've always done it together, a team of two, and that's what's made it work.

You are like my wife in the sense that you will look at things and want to buy but won't. That is so great that you and your guy have that type of relationship together. I wish you many more wonderful dates with him.

We are simple people and put more importance on experiences generally. We buy things, sometimes those we wand but not need, but we tend not to waste money and usually think carefully before we spend anything of a significant amount.

I hope you are well Joe.

I hope you are doing good too.

Dear Becca, the subtle and refreshing way you tell us about a day, a date, a conversation is especially beautiful.

I love your posts.

Thanks for the music!

I like how you've been together for a long time and there is still a lot of spark and excitement between you two. I've seen couples quickly lose it after a few years. I guess it because both of you really put the effort to make the relationship the best it could be.

We work at that spark you mention, it's not difficult but needs attention, some give and take and a sense of fun and adventure.

Beautiful weekend experience, a reunion date of a team of two, a fabulous team who always looked in a joint direction, I loved reading this and the music is incredibly beautiful with a lovely voice.

They are a strong team.

Hugs Becca.💗

Strong for certain, and I think that's how it should be between a couple.

Indeed, this is what a healthy, well-constituted couple should be like.💗
