I wouldn't say I had a bad time at school as I know people who had it worse off than me and I think that's due mainly to the two friends I had who made it tolerable. I learned a lot though, about human nature, and I carried that forward. Kids can be terrible little beast and never really think how damaging nicknames and teasing can effect others and these days it's probably even worse as they can reach into someone's personal life through social media.

You seem content with how it was for you and certainly own your nickname so I'd say you won out.
