Cooking is something I prefer other people do; I do not enjoy it. I'm not saying I don't know how to cook but if I had the choice not to have to cook I would choose not having to as I'm not passionate about it and that means my cooking isn't all that great.
I'm lucky my guy doesn't mind that I don't cook much and that he's a pretty good cook when he has time to do it anyway. He picks on me sometimes when I mess something up but he eats what I make and always thanks me for my effort.
On Sunday I made lunch for us but there was no cooking involved because I made a platter of assorted foods so it was more of food preparation than food cooking. The image isn't from Sunday, that's from one of my other platters I made a whole ago just for an example.
The one I made recently was similar but I added roasted chicken, stuffed olives, a few cold cuts of meat and a small loaf of crusty bread which made the platter a little more robust as a meal and we sat down to a really easy but tasty meal together. We had lemon and ginger kombucha to drink and some nice music playing and enjoyed a lovely lunch together...and there was no cooking involved; that's my sort of meal.
I must say that I super agree with you at this very moment.
Although I know how to cook, I don't enjoy it as much as I used to, I inherited the kitchen at home at a young age because my mum didn't like cooking either, so I willingly volunteered to do it, it freed me up from other chores, and I really enjoyed it a lot and others would eat any culinary nonsense I made 😬😂.
Today, I need to get away from it to have more time for my other personal projects.
So, it's great to be able to prepare something simple but delicious and nutritious the way you do .... and it's a win-win for everyone.

I think it's good to have many different interests and cooking can certainly be one of them but if it becomes a chore then it may lose it's appeal. Simple and delicious is my style.

That's exactly the problem, when we stop enjoying it and it becomes an obligation.
Simple and easy is the solution.

With all those ingredients, I was wondering how it was looking. ...🤔 it's good to have a better person in life , who could look after everything....he is a gem🥂
He's a keeper...one of the better men around that's for sure.

I like cooking, but my knowledge in cooking is not enough to produce delicious dishes. I just know how to fry an egg and processed foods. Its validating when other people compliment your cooking skills
Maybe one day your skills will improve and you'll get compliments.

Sounds splendid. I love a picky no prep meal!
They're the best right? So easy and a little decadent depending what's on the platter.
Becca 🌷
They are indeed. I always have to have stuffed olives, usually with garlic or Jalapeno and I am happy!
Simple is good and tasty too and I love it, especially when I have little time to cook or when I want to do something else that day. I am passionate about cooking but I like to enjoy that time. Otherwise simple things are a great solution.
It sure was tasty!
Hugs Becca.💗
Life is often made overly complicated by people and I'm not convinced that makes it any better; simplicity is underrated by some but my guy and I love it.
Becca 🌷
And life is so simple... it's a pity people complicate it.
Big hug.💗
Cooking is not easy, but it's fun to do especially if you'll be making it for your special someone. It needs effort, and maybe creativity too? Coz cooking everytime will be hard especially if we don't want to eat the same dish over and over. And yep, not anyone enjoy it. Still, you have a man who appreciate whatever you make, and thats awesome. ✨
I like cooking...when someone else does it.

I completely understand your sentiment about cooking, sometimes it’s just not everyone’s passion. Your approach to making a platter of assorted foods sounds perfect for an enjoyable, stress-free meal. The combination of roasted chicken, stuffed olives, cold cuts, and crusty bread sounds delicious and satisfying. Plus, pairing it with lemon and ginger kombucha and some nice music makes for a lovely and relaxed dining experience. It’s wonderful that you and your guy can appreciate these simple, yet delightful meals together! 🥓🍞🍹
Do you cook well and do you enjoy it?
Becca 🌷
Not really, Becca. Just like you, I don't prefer cooking, except my mom keeps telling me that I need to. Yes, I like me based cuisines, so I try those once in a while.
It's good to have some basic skills in cooking but that's about where my skills end...I'm certainly not what I would refer to as a good cook.. It's ok though, I've got my guy and he is! :)

I'm the same, I also don't like to cook. Which is a shame since I like to eat, and am a big eater. When I'm really lazy, I just make instant oatmeal and call it a day. I would maybe munch on some apples as a snack.
You need to find yourself a lot of friends who like to cook, that's a perfect match for someone who likes to eat.
Becca 🌷
I agree. I have one, and he likes help taste testing his new dishes. So it's a win win for us.
Same here.. I'm not fan of cooking..😁
We are the same in this way of thinking then.
Becca 🌷
Yes we are.😊
Doing something we do not have passion for is not easy at all
Not everyone likes cooking but we still do it some days.
And, it's great your guy can cook.
He's a good cook and is good at other things too.
Becca 🌷
Superb! blessed he came through, continue to have a good time 🥰🙏
Easier, or should I say simpler, is often the best way...it leaves time for more important things a person is passionate about and I'm pretty sure that platter you made was awesome anyway.
Simple things can be such valuable ones, or tasty, and the platter I made was definitely that.
