Many weekends are very similar to weekdays, or at least they have been in the past. But there have been some that stand out, because of the experiences I had and how much fun they were.
Fun depends on each person; some will go to a musical show, others to a fair, and perhaps others will spend a spectacular weekend at a reunion or a big party.
That weekend was very special. Many years have passed, but the important thing is that it took me out of my routine. I spent it with someone very special, my sister-friend, in a beautiful place, the city where she lives, and not only that, but it was also her birthday.
I remember it very well. On Saturday morning, I took a combi, which is a van used as transportation, especially in those parts of the country where there are no buses, or as an alternative to them. I arrived early at her workplace because Claudia works on Saturday mornings. I accompanied her, and we talked about many things.
We lived in different cities and now in different countries, but the friendship that unites us is very strong, like sisters. She is my older sister. No matter how long it had been since we last saw each other, when we met it was as if no time had passed and we caught up with our endless conversations.
She lives in Monte Hermoso, a place that has everything: forest, sea, dunes, and a beautiful lighthouse. I have explored most of this place with her, on foot, walking with her pets.

I remember that afternoon we walked through the local pine forest, a beautiful place, full of oxygen, with trails to walk and admire the landscape. And because it is so close to the sea, the smell of the sea reaches us and mingles with the pine trees. It's wonderful. A quiet place where you can breathe in a lot of peace. We talked, shared stories, and laughed. We are both fascinated by nature. She always talks about her love for the beach and the sea and how good it makes her feel to walk through the pine forest.
I used to live in a city where there were few parks, unlike Monte Hermoso, and now that I enjoy the same things she does, I understand her completely.
That day we went shopping, chatted at her house, did some work on the computer. She always thanks me for teaching her how to use Excel for her job. Our conversations were endless, no matter what time it was. That day her husband made us a delicious dinner, and then I stayed at her house to sleep.

The next day was her birthday, so everything consisted of preparations for when her family and friends came to her house. She prepared the living room, the table, everything that was going to be eaten and drunk. But before that, in the morning, we took a beautiful walk along the seashore, along the beach to the lighthouse, a very tall and beautiful lighthouse that is always a landmark.
His birthday falls in March, in the summer, but at a time when tourism has already slowed down. Monte Hermoso is a very touristy city in January and February, but at that time the beach was calmer and you could walk without hardly anyone around.
In the afternoon, we celebrated her birthday. Many people came, many of whom I didn't know, but I had a great time, a really great time, until the transport came to pick me up to take me back to my city. I will always remember that weekend as very fun and special.
I had the perfect combination of nature, beautiful places, a great celebration, and being with my soul sister, who is like my twin. It was a different, emotional, and very fun weekend, at least for me.
I have some photos of Monte Hermoso that my friend has taken for me on several occasions. I ask her for them because I love those places, and she takes them especially for me. I treasure these photos very much, and today I bring them to all of you.
