40 Leo Powered Up + Tutorial, How to power up Leo

Even though I might have just missed the LPUD(Leo Power Up Day) I still see the importance of power up. I believe in the potential of the leofinance ecosystem especially the LeoFinance miniblogging “extension”, threads.
It will not be long until threads becomes the order of the day.
Powering up Leo also helps drive the value of the Leo token. So it’s important that as a community member I do my quota in driving the value of the Leo token.

I started by converting my Hive Backed Dollars (HBD) to Hive.

Make sure you sign in with your Hive Active Key otherwise there will not be drop down or these links won’t be active. The active key makes the account ready to do transaction.

In the market I exchanged the HBD for some Hive.

Then I confirmed the transaction by tapping okay.

Then a feedback came showing the confirmation of the transaction.

Immediately, I had my Hive in my wallet.

Now I am going to convert the Hive to Leo (in order to do the Leo power up, remember ? Lol )

Now this was the tough part.

In converting my Hive to Leo I face some challenges. Most of them was because this was my first time doing this.

I actually thought I could convert my $Hive to $Leo using the LeoFinance wallet. Then I logged into my leofinance wallet using my active key but there weren’t any button to convert hive to Leo.

I also went to the LeoFinance Decentralized Exchange called LeoDex to convert my Hive to LeoFinance but I still couldn’t find my way around it. (For LeoDex I’ll go back and explore it more)

From here I did some more searches and later happened on BEESWAP. This one too without any first hand knowledge or experience of the system, I faced some challenges but something just told me it’ll work so I pressed on.. but I must admit that I’ve used some DEXes before so I had a clue how to go about things but still I faced some challenges. The reason was because I normally use DEXes(Pancakeswap, Uniswap) with a DEX wallet such Trust Wallet. As you may know, in this case you just tap a button to connect the exchange to your wallet and then go head to swap your tokens, but this one wasn’t that straightforward.

One of the errors I got connecting to beeswap

The current website is trying to send a request to Hive Keychain for account @zzzinnn using the posting key, which has not been added to the wallet.

I got this error as I was trying to the beeswap DEX to my Hive Keychain. This error was basically telling me that I needed to add my private posting key to my Keychain before the two platforms can connect to each other. So I did as directed; I went ahead and added my posting key to my Keychain.
For the purposes of education I would like to show how I did that in four simple steps.

Adding my posting key to my Hive Keychain

Open your Hive Keychain (and sign in, of course)

Find at the top right corner, three dots on top of one another and press it to open a menu like this one. Then choose “Manage Keys” to add your keys.

Tap “ADD KEY” to add the respective private key(POSTING, ACTIVE, MEMO).
_[source] Copy and paste the private key from wherever you store your keys and tap “SAVE”.
Viola!

Your key is added. Now you can go ahead and connect your keychain to BEESWAP and perform your transactions without any troubles.

Now let’s do the swap

In fact to covert Hive to Leo on BEESWAP you need to covert your Hive to “Swap.Hive” first. It’s simple.

Now my Hive wallet is connected to my Beeswap through Hive Keychain so I can do transactions with my Hive wallet funds through Beeswap(basically this is how DEXes(decentralized exchanges) work.

So I first of all converted my Hive into SWAP.HIVE.

Now, The Leo Power Up!

So now that I have bought my Leo tokens I can now head to LeoFinance and do the power up.

So I went to LeoFinance and went to my wallet and guess what ? My 40leo was sitting pretty there looking at me. 😊

Tap on the double top-pointing arrows. That’s the symbol for “Power Up”.

Here enter the amount of Leo you want to power up and tap continue.
