I'm not sure if ads bring in much money, but it's worth a try :) ...

The idea of making the site an exciting place to spend time could be a great way to onboard... Maybe a little "Hive faucet" that drips out a fraction of a fraction of Hive daily (like the amount we get when someone sends a memo)?
