Egos got in the way.
The Internet millionaires (then billionaires) changed all that.

It certainly did, and the ability to market through social media and the success of companies that have a good "Front Man" plays into that as well.
Most of the ultra rich have their funds in "foundations" for tax breaks and in order to pass it on without inheritance taxes.
But yeah, there is money out there we aren't following for sure.
