I don't think that it is because of social media, but I can say economic uncertainty, concern for the future, changed lifestyle which is enjoying being alone. However, I can claim that social media might have caused us to be prone to being alone.

I think they all work in together - people who entertain themselves with low-grade, valueless activity, tend not to have financial security.
