i think the uses go beyond just paying to see an author. For example, I know professors from a university that could upload content there and the students could pay to access to it.

Everyone could pay if they want to, but the student will get the certifications...

Also if you want to raise funds for something and instead of asking for donations, you give something there, or simply the content will be what the donations have been used for...

So many ideas
