How has Corona affected you financially?

Had this discussion with a couple peeps today so I figured it will make a nice topic for discussion :D

As for me, I am lucky enough to work in a private bussiness that parasitizes directly on the public sector and that sweet tax payer money! So I haven't missed a single payment. Furthermore, I asked for a raise about six months ago but I got a big fat no so I am working way less than I used to do and they can't touch me for at least the end of the year, thanks to the stupid new corona laws that protect workers from being fired, lol. Thank you socialism ! I get paid the same but work less than half than I used to. And thank you tax payers 💪😂

And working less for my job means that I have way more energy and time for all my side gigs, like posting here on hive, doing crypto bounties etc etc. And surprisingly my cryptobags are also doing well, getting heavier and heavier. I was sure BTC and cryptos in general would get fucked by Corona but it turned out that isn't the case...quite the opposite..at least for now!

So yeah. I am doing really good! Not that it matters much as I have a feeling that we are heading towards a huge recession and a global economic reset. But maybe that's just good ol' me, always seeing the glass half empty and things won't get that bad.

Anyways. Yeah. How are you holding up?

I work as a Nurse, so I work a bit more covering for the loss of part time staff and as a sole parent consequently less time with my kids. It's demoralizing knowing that PT Staff get reimbursed their lost time/wages paid semi-vacation in the compartmentalization (Staff are not allowed to work more than one Unit) while I earn every dollar working FT getting the same salary. Otherwise, it's coping with double digit food inflation.

with double digit food inflation

Weirdly we haven't had any yet! Thanks for sharing your experience, hang in there, you have one of the most important jobs at these hard times!

And the Central Bankers (The Fed) are saying there's not enough INFLATION! Say What?! What 2% target?!

Oh wow, you're on here... and one of @trumpman's followers too @kerrislravenhill? Nice! :D

Small Hive isn't it?

As for me, Corona virus has affected the prices of goods and services. Technically I'm unemployed but I'm living off Crypto trading.
You're quite comfortable, many workers already have no jobs and no savings and no Crypto. I'm only affected in the sense that I now have to pay More for buying less.

If I may, do you get any goverment corona benefits in Nigeria? And did you have any job before? Just curious :D

People do better when they're Self employed rather than employed by an organisation. I used to work in a particular organisation but then I got sick and was relieved of my duties. So I've been unemployed since, but I'm a student and I live off Crypto.

No we don't have any grant the government pays us nothing

we are heading towards a huge recession and a global economic reset

That's not half empty. That's realistic. I'm an optimist and I say the future does not look brilliant.

Lol

Surprisingly, I actually got 2 extra jobs, more income and more time to work on personal projects. More time for hive and other cryptos.
I guess this period has made me realize how so important free time is.

Very nice! Hopefully, your hard work now will get rewarded and have more free time in the future. At least thats what I hope happens for me.

Interesting read. Quite an engaging discussion. Your story is superb. I think you're the one praying that corona continues. Livesgood where you are! At other places its different. In any case, Corona made me discover there's so much gold in my data and content. I'm making the most out of blogging over the last few months.

I'll like to write a full post on this.

My job is secured, till now. The good thing that happened was I started my parental leave right on the onset of the pandemic. Hopefully, everything will remain as it was when I go back to my job.

Nice! Stay safe my friend !

no difference, corona didn't affect me in anyway as i have been working online even before the pandemic, nothing really change...

Good to here ! Working online certainly has its perks 💪

ChangeNOW to start rebuilding my portfolio. I use ChangeNOW specifically because I can buy from there directly to my Trezor wallet.Lucky you, @trumpman! Corona affected the prices of everything over here. Food, drinks, cost of repairs, gadgets, just name it. Many people got laid off already. I'm a student who's technically unemployed. I live off my crypto earnings, and I must confess I'm quite happier now ,now ,than the beginning of this crisis. At the beginning of the crisis, I felt lost. I was always thinking of where to pick myself up from. Ateast, I have a few things figured out now. I've been able to save up some cash to get crypto on

Apart from having to pay more for less, this pandemic has been a blessing in disguise. I've been able to pick up new skills, get some more experience in some fields and I have plenty of time. I think this pandemic gave me the time I needed to reinvent myself. I actually do not have plans to resume school this year anymore, :)

Awesome! Good to see you turned the odds to your advantage! I guess you are in your 20s so as a piece of advice.from somebody older. School isn't bad as long as you study something you actually enjoy, so maybe keep that in mind for the future. Keep rocking!

Thanks for the advice and yes, I'm in my 20s. I'm a lover of knowledge so, I'll definitely resume school. I just need some more time but I guess, there's never enough time so, I'll make do of the one available to me.

I have two online sales-related businesses and sales are down 25% and 40% year over year, respectively. But since I've spent most of my adult life living on "pretty much nothing," it's pretty much normal for us. Mrs. Denmarkguy is in the counseling business... she has more clients, but they are mostly fishing to pay less for sessions because they've been laid off or are facing financial uncertainty.

It's great to hear it! I had a similar situation where I received my salary but didn't have to go to work at all because there wasn't one.

Right now, everything's almost the same as it was with a bright look at the future and my crypto career.

Portugal is socialist too, and I'm a student so I still live with my parents, my father is a doctor so he is working hard, but he is getting a really really nice pay because of this whole corona virus, straight from the tax payers, but since he pays 50% of his wage in taxes, I guess a lot of his wage comes from himself xD...

Meanwhile, I've been writing content for a lot of websites and getting paid for it, been trading a little here and there, and my investment bags are up like 3x, so...all in all, it's been good financially.

How about making a post about all the sites you milk? :D

You mean, this one:

https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@teutonium/crypto-cashflow-crypto-social-media-how-much-i-ve-made-so-far

The list is: Hive/LeoFinance, Uptrennd, Publish0x, read.cash, discussion.app, rebuzz(phone app), SoMee(needs KYC).

Some of the websites I use are still very very early, some don't even allow you to withdraw without you doing KYC, like SoMee, but it gives really nice earnings, I'm waiting for them to allow KYC and payment using SoMee points to do the KYC.

I've been powering up in most websites, not sure when I'll start cashing out, but maybe in a couple of months I'll start taking some profits and putting them in BTC, on Hive I don't have any reason to do this because I already took 300 bucks of profit from Steem.

Nice ! Thanks!
