Yes, I think both onboarding options would be best. A simply "here are your keys" option for those who know and understand what that means and a "login with a password" option for those who don't.
I used the LeoFinance twitter login example because that is about as easy as it gets (imho) and is desperately needed. The only problem with LeoFinance's solution is that folks that use their twitter login option cannot use that to log in anywhere else. Your proposed solution would fix that problem.

Yes, if LeoFinance simply implemented a direct export of the keys to Hive Keychain then their onboarding process becomes 1-step to only use Leo (login via twitter API and select Hive username) and 2 more steps to use all of Hive (additional steps = [1] install Hive Keychain browser extension and [2] select the "Export to Keychain" option).
