Is Europe headed for destruction?

in LeoFinance7 days ago

The latest pronouncements from Donald Trump and Elon Musk have stirred up controversy among the European political class, but they are merely the words of politicians fighting amongst themselves for imaginary power. However, this time it's a bit different. A memorandum has been published outlining how the American administration views the situation, and it doesn't differ much from that of its eccentric president. So the question remains.

The reality is that Europe cannot be destroyed because it has never been united. Some want to compare it to the United States, but it's not the same at all. Dozens of different languages and cultures coexist in Europe. None of them want to relinquish their idiosyncrasies for the common good.

Let's remember that the European Union was born from the European Community, which was something quite different. Its objectives were peace in Europe (we're better at waging wars here than anyone else) and economic cooperation (at that time centered around coal). The truth is, the objectives were met quite well, and we all know that when something works, we like to believe we can do even better.

The reality is that after that, Europe has focused on only one thing: regulation. To do this, it needs to raise more taxes, which of course it then needs to regulate again, and that requires even more taxes. As you can see, it's a vicious cycle in which only the Brussels bureaucrats win.

They aren't going to give up their privileges, so perhaps the destruction of the European Union is necessary for Europe to survive. Unfortunately, knowing us Europeans, we'll need a war to change things.
