China's first space tourism venture sells inital pair of tickets

Deep Blue Aerospace used a livestream on Chinese e-commerce site Taobao to sell two tickets on its first suborbital flights. At just ¥1,000,000 ($140,000), the seats were at a deep discount compared to the expected cost of ¥1,500,000 ($210,000) per seat. The flight is not expected to launch for another three years or so. The livestream, which was the first time space tourism tickets have gone on public sale in China, attracted an audience of three million viewers.

To me, space tourism is overrated.

The true explosion due to space advancement is going to be space manufacturing. For things such as drugs due to protein stacking or fiber optic manufacturing, space is the ideal setting since gravity is the enemy.

I always thought mining asteroids would be a thing by the end of the century for valuables metals, will see if that happens, would go hand in hand with manufacturing too.

That is going to be something but it will be for space use. I do not see asteroid mining resulting in the materials being brought back. Instead, when we have different things in space, it will be used for materials and fuel.

gravity is the enemy 😳 I thought that was what made life possible

If you are trying to do protein folding, it is the enemy. Same with making fiber optic cable.

I understand now sir

I agree. But I'm a sucker for space so I would definitely take the bait on a space tour if I could afford it LOL
