RE: LeoThread 2023-08-22 20:13

What do people think of the different apps that are all attempting the same thing here on the chain? Threads, DBuzz, Inji, and now Ecency's "Waves"... What sets them apart from each other? How does one choose which is "right" for them?

Sort:

It's pretty interesting to have similar features on each DApp. Although it depends on the user which one works well for them. I haven't tried DBuzz and Inji, tested Ecency Waves when it just launched but I'm sticking with Threads 😉

What about threads has drawn you in? What sets it apart?

Threads is the first microblogging feature I tested on Hive and I just stick around. Can't really compare it with others as I did not test them out but perhaps it's the community that kept me here. Also, I am building my LEO stacks.

That makes sense. I've never really engaged much with the LEO community - just don't feel like I have much to offer.

The UI seems more familiar to me, personally. I also noticed one can just sign in with their X account now, too!

Threads actually made it possible for me to engage with users here. I used to think it is exclusive to finance and crypto geeks but not so.

And yes, the UI allows one to sign in using X or Gmail. Have not tried it though.

I wonder if signing in with X would allow you to link to an established Hive account... I'll give it a shot sometime and let you know.

I agree about the engaging thing. Never felt like I belonged in LEO, but this feels less daunting.

That we have to find out after you try :) I may have to try it too if it works.

And yes, threads changed my perception of LEO. If you may not know, the UI now welcomes any type of content. No longer confined to Finance or crypto topics.😉

Excuse the language in the thread, I was upset at the time lulz.

Interesting thoughts, but they don't answer my question. I'm more curious about what sets them apart from one another. Like, why choose threads over waves, for example.bold

They're completely separate, competing social media sites.

There is no 'hive community'.

You choose whatever works for you.

ah, I see your stance more clearly now.

Now that I've logged into Threads on my actual browser (not the Keychain browser) it seems to work better, and the UI is quite familiar. Are there other benefits to using Leo Threads?

Well Dbuzz posts directly as a blog post which I hate. Waves I haven't check out so no opinion and Threads offers unique features and also returns value in the form of ad revenue setting itself greatly apart in a positive way IMO

I'm not crazy about how Dbuzz handled posting content. Waves makes a master post and the mini blog is handled like a "comment" under that blog post - but is viewed differently within Ecency Decks. Didn't know that about the ad revue, cool!

I was just on Eceny and not sure I saw waves or how to access it on there?
And yep the ad revenue is that's going to return value BACK into hive and Leo instead on constantly depleting it. A huge positive IMO

yeah, so to access it, you have to go through the Decks feature. It's not as easily accessible as Threads.

Threads is my favorite of the bunch and the one with the most potential.

I don't know Inji

DBuzz I feel need more interaction and move from post to comment to address the content

Leofinance sometimes is glichy and need improve the user experience, when they come with an app 🔥

Waves is nice but is heavy
