RE: LeoThread 2023-07-28 14:56

I see a bunch of new #threads with absolutely 0 #engagement… How are we ever going to grow if people don’t get involved?

It’s not a good look for bringing in new people when there is no user activity…

Just sayin’…

Sort:

That's because most of the thread topics are shit and most are just drive-by threaders. It's all about the self and not the community

Yep, it’s been an overall problem with Hive from the beginning of the old days, but has really gone down hill in the last year. Just wondering how we can improve this… Oh and thanks for engaging!

Well, from the numbers I've seen, Hive has lost over 50% of its active userbase.

Yes, that is true. We do need to make more engagements, mostly people just post threads rather than engaging with other ones posted by others

Yep, and it creates a big issue for sure. Do you have any suggestions? BTW, thanks for engaging!

I dunno tbh, but maybe if we can incentivize engagement for people then maybe people would start doing it, but I personally think it won't be the way to go

Nobody is incentivized to comment on Twitter, but do way more than here, at least you have the opportunity for upvotes, which is the incentive…

Yeah, this is exactly the thought I was having while writing that as well

I agree. I t doesn't help that too much threads are only link dropping

Admittedly I am guilty of this myself, but I agree, lol. I may try some TA threads instead of making a post to see what kind of engagement that gets, I guess we just have to experiment. Thanks for engaging!

I think it's ok to drop your posts, I do that too. The issue to me is when that's all people do. I see some people whose threads are 100% link dropping. That adds very little value to the platform in my opinion

sometimes it’s hard to comment on some threads 🥲 but yeah i hope we would be more engaging here

What makes it hard to comment? The UI or the subject matter?

the subject.. no problems on the UI
sorry, i should have made that clear

It's about topics that excites other to leave a comment or some people just prefer to scroll down and ignore.

what kind of topics in your opinion would ignite engagement? obviously this one sparked something, 😂

Thanks for commenting.

varies person to person.

I like #crypto or #finance related topics, anything relatable I found in someone else life, #memes.

I can't read my own thread, I can't vote any pool. The only way I can check my thread is from peakd > activities > then click the comment. there are plenty to be fix first before the real adoption can start

That sounds like you need to submit some #feedback to the developers if you are having those kind of issues…

done that before, and still doing that even I get no good response

and this screenshot is how I use thread

1/2 Totally agreed. @thelogicaldude I have not been on Hive very long but I have committed many hours of learning and personal development.

2/2 The value I seek is to drop in some text followed by a link to share more content that I created and promoting for my business. I guess it is a period of exploring expectations.

Seems like that method of posting is frowned upon by the community. I think we need to use threads for different purposes. I admittedly am a link dropper too, but we have to start building legit engagement.

Looking like so to me as well so now I see less value to my business ie project objectives. I never cared for twitter, now X so threads is not for me unless I adopt a different behaviour. Where do I read the TOS for this platform?

there isn’t a TOS, it’s just community consensus. A truly decentralized community shouldn’t have a ToS, TOS is censorship.

Agree but my spider sense suggest otherwise based on comments I have read.

What comments? I have been here since 2019 and build multiple projects on Hive, there are no terms of service.

Can you expand on "we have to start building legit engagement"

Having actual conversations around a topic. Upvotes and stupid one line comments to me is not engagement.

So we should respect differences if we are totally for less censorship. There are always expectations that need to be communicated. In any case, I need to move on. I have sufficiently tested this app. Take care and have a great day.

Yep that’s pretty much the gist of it. If you don’t like it, pass it or if you really disagree and don’t feel it’s appropriate, that’s why we have downvoting.

I would never use the down vote option. I am not wired that way. I can adapt to change and expectations of a community but as you say, moving to a more accepting community is logical. !lol

Seems logical. Good point to bring up. We're working on it, and getting there.
