Today, January 3, is the 16th anniversary of the first Bitcoin.

Satoshi Nakamoto mined the Bitcoin Genesis Block on a small server in Helsinki, Finland on January 3, 2009. The Bitcoin Genesis Block contains the reward for the first 50 Bitcoins and a coinbase message:

"The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks".
