It's not smart to stand up for what's right. If you go with the herd, you'll probably do a lot better.
I mean you should do what's right. I try to. But understand why some others may not.

Yeah, I think there's a balance to strike between standing up for what's right vs. how effective that action will be vs. the consequences. No use in standing up for what's right when the only effect it is going to have is to get yourself or others hurt or killed, for example.
Yeah, even if the balance is heavily in favor of doing what is right, we just have to acknowledge the cost we pay.
Yeah, there is situations where you do have to think if you are prepared to deal with the consequences. Sometimes it is completely worth it, sometimes it is not.
Also, there are herds that pretend to be the right thing, and you follow them just to find out later you picked the wrong side.
Basically, when it comes to doing the right thing, the key is in "try"

Yeah. Lots of nuance.
Truth is treason in the empire of lies.
Ron Paul
Fantastic quote, one of my favorites from him.
He is one of the few politicians that I have ever really felt mostly ok voting for because of his freedom focus.
Yeah he and his son are great.
In the short-term it's easier to go with the herd, but in the long-term it's more rewarding to do what's right.
I believe so. That's how I live. But we should have understanding that it doesn't make sense short-term for some people.
Society would not be where we are today if we didnt have people who fought for what they believed is right. Heard mentality is dangerous sometimes, but easy.
Yes, the point is that it's easy, and immediately beneficial.
I believe in doing the right thing at all times. I just want to highlight that it has a cost and risk, and we have to be prepared to pay it.
At the very least I believe in allowing yourself to feel disgusted at not doing what’s right.
I understand when people don’t stand up for what’s right when they know it’s a losing battle, but that’s giving up on a single match, not giving up on an entire career.
