Not at all. The only thing is if you want to share any kid of link on a thread, you can't do it on the main thread. You must do it in the form of a comment under the main thread just like it was done here or else your thread will be hidden
You can use links on posts it's just when you are using threads you need to share links on comments. This was implemented to prevent people from spamming links left and right.
The best way to do it is to write a main thread inviting others to access whatever link you want to share and then reply to your own thread with the link. Make them curious about the content you are sharing!
