A Silver Dollar From San Francisco and Silver Hits $64!

Over the years I have become somewhat of a fanatic when it comes to Morgan silver dollars. It's always been one of my very favorite coins that was ever produced by the US Mint. They have so much detail in each coin, unlike the coins of today. Although I think the Peace dollar that came later may be prettier, it's just not a Morgan!

My father got me hooked on collecting silver dollars at an early age, and my first one was a Morgan which I still have to this very day. I've continued to collect them throughout my life, picking them up pretty much anytime I find a good deal. I tend to like the nicer coins that are less circulated, but the ones that have seen some action are almost more interesting. It's fun to think about who may have carried the coin in their pocket or purse and what it may have been spent on by the former owners. Today's coin is one of those, it's not too worn but has seen some action, and best of all it was made in San Francisco, California!

I picked this up a long time ago, to be honest I don't even remember when or where. This was minted in 1881, some 144 years ago. I won't look nearly that good once I hit that age, and this one will still be beautiful in another 100 years!

This coin is probably worth around $100, not too bad for a one dollar coin. Not one that will be leaving my collection any time soon as I really don't like parting ways with Morgan dollars. The value of the silver alone in the coin is around $49 with current silver prices, so you can see how in demand they are with collectors as they sell at much higher prices. If you don't have a Morgan, I recommend picking one up for yourself, you won't regret it!

Once again silver is showing more positive movement up the charts past $64 per Troy ounce. Supplies of silver are extremely tight right now and it can't be refined fast enough to keep up with demand. This bottleneck is leading to new all time highs in silver, and things look likely to only keep going up for the foreseeable future. Additionally, governments, corporations, and individuals are buying up silver at record rates. Costco, a major retailer in the US, is selling silver and gold in stores, but it sells out so fast that even the display items are sold out.

The world's instability both economically and politically aren't helping. Recession is looking more likely almost daily and the prospect of World War 3 is still looming in Europe. All of this make silver an excellent investment right now, it's real money that you can hold in your hand. And unlike fiat, it's not going to lose all of it's value or get inflated into oblivion. That's why throughout recorded human history silver and gold have always been valuable, and they always will be.

If you haven't invested yet, there's no time like the present. You can start small with a small coin or silver bar, there are even silver bars in 1 gram sizes available. If you buy now and regularly they will stack up, and soon you'll have a silver stash that builds your personal wealth. The hard part is just taking that first step, but it's worth it!
