I think they tend to be like Superbowls. They are money losers for the city that hosts them but the businesses make out. Plus, the city gets an overhaul partially paid for by the different Olympic Committees.
To be honest with you, I havent watched the Olympics in years so I could care less.

Yup, that's true.
I was one of the many project managers of the Rio 2016 Olympics and I could see that.
Also, many politicians got their pockets filled out of that one

Yea politicians definitely get their pockets filled. Either by placing their choice of people/businesses and favors to people for tickets.

And sometimes it's just plain bribery, overpriced contracts and money laundering.

They are the same all over the place. No difference no matter what the political structure or system.

Yea the amount of money for flights, housing and even tourism is crazy. I think the amount of people jumping into the fire from all around the world helps the entire country's economy.
