It is Scottish sea mist as shown below from the weekend....
It was fluffing 4 degrees last night, bloody ridiculous although we have a clear sky so hopefull sun comes out later in the afternoon after I have banged out a couple of chapters of new book!

We often get a haar here, on the South Coasr, but it mostly occurs at the beginning of summer rather than the end. The sea's probably too warm for it right now. The temperature's cooled dow a lot here too but not into single digits!
Yes the sea is at its warmest now. I agree with you we tend to get most of it in April.
