Hard to tell. I have a feeling they ran into some kind of technical difficulties or bugs, which is not uncommon.
That said, you are right, this one just happened to be ready, from the development side, ahead of the other.
I would prefer you to be right obviously...the sooner the better.

To be honest it is better to make it transparent and put it in front of users rather than not talk about it .

I agree. That should be what is done. Not just mentioning it occasionally in a couple posts and glossing over it.
