Challenges in defining AGI
Despite the significant progress made in AI research, defining AGI is still a challenging task. There are several reasons for this:
- Lack of a clear definition: As Fei-Fei Li mentioned, there is no widely accepted definition of AGI. Different researchers and organizations have proposed various definitions, which can lead to confusion and disagreement.
- Complexity of human intelligence: Human intelligence is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon that is not yet fully understood. Replicating human intelligence in an AI system is a daunting task, especially considering the intricate relationships between cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of human intelligence.
- Difficulty in measuring intelligence: Intelligence is a difficult concept to measure, especially in the context of AI systems. Current methods for evaluating AI intelligence, such as benchmarking and testing, are often incomplete or biased.
