Anthropic, the Amazon-backed artificial intelligence startup, on Monday was hit with a class-action lawsuit in California federal court over alleged copyright infringement. Three authors said in the filing that Anthropic "built a multibillion-dollar business by stealing hundreds of thousands of copyrighted books," including their own.
Anthropic, which was founded by ex-OpenAI research executives, has backers including Google and Salesforce.
Perhaps we are seeing the first of many who have become millionaires because of violating copyright.
I believe there may be other ways to obtain data without committing crimes.
We are going to see a lot of crazy things. #ai is moving so fast that few can keep up, especially the legal system.
Yes, it's very fast and there are things that surprise me a lot. Sometimes it's not possible to keep up with everything at the same time hahaha...
This means that a lot is being done and evolving.
We have to keep pushing.
There are about 10 days left until we get to the end of the month. Need to add a lot of shorts.
You're right, we'll make it.
I'm bringing shorts and different tastes and styles for anyone who wants to check them out.
When Page Views return to the platform, it will be very interesting to see how shorts will help the platform in this process.
It will be. There is a lot that can be done once the feed is live. I did test it a bit. Pretty cool. But there needs to be more posts since I believe it is nothing more than the latest feed.
I think starting tomorrow, when more people know that the feed is active, we will have more shorts being brought here.
Authors Andrea Bartz, Charles Graeber and Kirk Wallace Johnson alleged in the lawsuit that "an essential component of Anthropic's business model — and its flagship 'Claude' family of large language models (or 'LLMs')— is the largescale theft of copyrighted works," later alleging that "Anthropic downloaded known pirated versions of Plaintiffs' works, made copies of them, and fed these pirated copies into its models."
The lawsuit follows Anthropic's June debut of its most powerful AI model yet, Claude 3.5 Sonnet. Claude is one of the chatbots that, like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, has exploded in popularity in the past year.
