what is the benefit of Artificial intelligence in oour society

A lot. It can provide security. For example, credit card companies are using it to scan for fraud.

It will help content creators generate output. We are going to see many use cases in healthcare including early detection for cancers and such.

We are also going to see AI as the "brains" for robots.

AI technology is something else

@coyotelation

Would your wife get upset if you bought one of these?

I mean I'll get upset at myself for being that desperate!!

Looks can be deceiving. LOL

This is a good one with a transcript that you can translate.

The Metaverse Was Supposed to Be Your New Office. You’re Still on Zoom

Tech founders painted a vision of employees clocking into virtual workplaces. But the adoption of VR at work has been slow.

When Mark Zuckerberg rebranded Facebook as Meta in 2021, he estimated the metaverse could reach a billion people over a decade. Not long after, Bill Gates predicted that within two or three years “most virtual meetings will move from 2D camera image grids—which I call the Hollywood Squares model, although I know that probably dates me—to the metaverse, a 3D space with digital avatars.”

Oh new style on the links?

Yeah @coyotelation and I played around with it. Seems like a good way to get info up. It is a bit slower though.

Cool, love the people try new things out. Just like you talked about threadcasts. People need to experiment to find out what works and then people will copy it.

Btw planning on doing my ai art gallery threadcast today. Have been away touching grass last couple of days.

We came up with a few ideas and tried this. This one appears to have some sticking power.

It will also help when summary with #leoai is available.

Sounds good. How do you do it? Thought html was removed?

Put the text in the first and the link in the second. No space in between ](

Okay thanks! Gonna try it some time :)

Axion Processors: Google's First Arm-based CPUs

At Google, we constantly push the boundaries of computing, exploring what is possible for grand challenges ranging from information retrieval, global video distribution, and, of course, generative AI. Doing so requires rethinking systems design in deep collaboration with service developers. This rethinking has resulted in our significant investment in custom silicon. Today, we are thrilled to announce the latest incarnation of this work: Google Axion Processors, our first custom Arm®-based CPUs designed for the data center. Axion delivers industry-leading performance and energy efficiency and will be available to Google Cloud customers later this year.

How to tell if your online accounts have been hacked

This is a guide on how to check whether someone compromised your online accounts.

More and more hackers are targeting regular people with the goal of stealing their crypto, perhaps getting into their bank accounts, or simply stalking them. These types of attacks are still relatively rare, so there’s no need for alarm. But it’s important to know what you can do to protect yourself if you suspect someone got into your email or social media account.

The Hidden Ties Between Google and Amazon’s Project Nimbus and Israel's Military

A WIRED investigation found public statements from officials detail a much closer link between Project Nimbus and Israel Defense Forces than previously reported.

On April 16, police entered Google offices in New York and California to detain several employees protesting a $1.2 billion cloud contract with Israel’s government called Project Nimbus. The deal, shared with Amazon, has met pushback from some employees at both companies since 2021, but the protests have grown louder since Israel’s renewed conflict with Hamas after the attacks of October 7, 2023.

Decoding the ABB Nascar EV Prototype

Nascar just unveiled its experimental EV. But how can stock-car racing embrace an electric future without losing its gasoline-fueled fan base?

Right now, all-electric race cars struggle at running flat-out around high-speed ovals—the kind of racing that defines most of the Nascar season. With regenerative braking, or regen, EVs turn deceleration into energy that goes back into the battery, but that trick doesn’t work on tracks where drivers keep the accelerator pinned to the floor lap after lap.

It Will Soon Be Easier for Americans to Recycle Batteries

Improperly discarded batteries leak toxic chemicals and are prone to exploding. A new program funded by the Department of Energy will prop up battery drop-off sites across the US.

Do you have a collection of old cell phones in a desk drawer somewhere because you don’t know what to do with them? A new US initiative aims to make it easier for people to recycle phones, computers, and other battery-powered electronics.

This month, the US Department of Energy announced a $14 million program that will fund more than 1,000 consumer battery collection sites across the country at Staples and Battery Plus stores. It’s part of a larger $62 million effort announced by the Biden administration in April to boost battery recycling.

Comcast & Bally Sports Reportedly Restart Talks as Bally Sports Tries to Find a Way to Keep Going

Last May, Comcast dropped the regional sports networks (RSNs) Bally Sports from its lineup. According to Bally Sports, Comcast wanted to move the network to a more expensive package. This move could result in Bally Sports not being able to move forward.

The news that Bally Sports was dropped by Comcast was quickly followed by reports that the two companies had ended talks. Now, according to a report from Sportico, Comcast has restarted talks with the Diamond Sports Group, the parent company of Bally Sports.

This comes as Bally Sports needs to find a way forward before a hearing about its bankruptcy.

Scrap to strike: Cheap Ukrainian drones, robots deter Russian ambitions

Kyiv has officially used multiple makeshift drones in the past to strike targets deep inside Russian territory to hurt the enemy’s war efforts.

Ukraine is putting up a good fight in the ongoing war against Russia, with help of course from NATO and other countries, but the creativity of the masses in developing low-cost robots for fighting and reconnaissance purposes is also playing a huge role.

Kyiv has officially used multiple makeshift drones in the past to strike targets deep inside Russian territory to hurt the enemy’s war efforts.

Necessity is the mother of invention, and in times as desperate as the ongoing war the Ukrainian masses are leaving no stone unturned to boost their own defense capability and also to provide their forces with dangerous drones.
