Sort:

The technology of computer games is not based on their creators, but on the desire of people to immerse themselves in a fictional world and leave reality for a while :) !VSC

Someone has to create it though.

Without the first one, there is no point in creating them :) !PIZZA

There are a lot of slumps. #crypto is getting hit hard.

I never heard of that one.

We might start hearing about it soon.

A lot out there. Hard to keep up with all the smaller things ready to explode.

Reuters: Music labels' AI lawsuits create copyright puzzle for courts

https://www.reuters.com/legal/music-labels-ai-lawsuits-create-new-copyright-puzzle-us-courts-2024-08-03/

That is very true. It will be very interesting to see where it goes.

More importantly, how long will it take.

It may be decided by an AI judge ultimately :)) What a plot twist.

LOL I didnt think of that but perhaps.

Wouldnt that be ironic?

It depends if the AI judge would secretly side its peers or not ;)

LOL Can you appeal based upon bias in the coding?

I guess the three Asimov's laws of robotics should be implemented in coding anyway. Yet then such AI judge would always call against other AI and in favor of any human.

James Earl Jones might be getting a call. LOL

A booty call, huh?

Could be although I think his wife might get upset at that....or maybe she likes it.

Some do like watching.

CNN: Trump says Taiwan stole America’s chip industry. But that’s not true

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/07/23/tech/trump-taiwan-tsmc-chips-industry-hnk-intl/index.html

Actually the US gave it to Taiwan. Like most things, when you give it to others, you can no longer claim it as yours.

Look at all those who believe Big Tech is stealing their social media data when they willing place it on their servers.

Have you ever had a conversation with a chatbot yet?

I am pretty sure I have. It's a little frustrating sometimes

You are pretty sure ? I think that is one of those things you would know if you did. LOL

AI will become smarter than humans: Geoffrey Hinton

#ai #technology

I think it already is smarter than some humans.

In many areas it is. That will only accelerate as we move forward. In another couple years, people will be blown away by what it does.

It will become self aware and really mess with us. LOL. I'm really not afraid of it.

I am looking forward to it. If we see things going off the cliff so be it. You only live once.

Humanity is going in this direction anyway so might as well embrace it.

Tesla Dojo: Elon Musk's big plan to build an AI supercomputer, explained

Dojo is Tesla’s custom-built supercomputer that’s designed to train its “Full Self-Driving” neural networks.

For years, Elon Musk has talked about Dojo — the AI supercomputer that will be the cornerstone of Tesla’s AI ambitions. It’s important enough to Musk that he recently said the company’s AI team is going to “double down” on Dojo as Tesla gears up to reveal its robotaxi in October.

Meet the founder who built and sold a $600M enterprise software startup from Sri Lanka

Sanjiva Weerawarana co-founded WSO2 in 2005, recently selling it for more than $600M. He sometimes drives for Uber, too.

Sri Lanka isn’t renowned for its startup ecosystem, but one company has been something of an outlier in the South Asian island nation these past two decades. An open source enterprise software provider with customers such as Samsung, Axa, and AT&T, WSO2 recently agreed to be acquired by private equity giant EQT, at a valuation TechCrunch reported at the time to be north of $600 million. (We can now confirm that the valuation was in fact exactly $600 million.)

When a big company comes after a hot startup, it’s not a slam dunk decision to sell

You might think that when a startup gets a big offer to sell, it would be an easy decision, but there are lots of factors to consider.

Rumors first surfaced last month that Google was going after cloud security startup Wiz and a $23 billion offer was on the table, the most lucrative offer ever made for a startup. Before the deal eventually died, there would have been a lot of moving parts, and it’s fair to ask: What are the mechanics when a big deal like this is set in motion, and how does a startup decide to sell or not?

Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway cut its Apple holding by around half, to $84.2 billion, according to an SEC filing.

While Apple remains the firm’s largest stock holding by far, Buffett had already reduced its stake by 13 percent earlier this year, hinting that he didn’t mind selling “a little Apple” for tax reasons.

Zuckerberg and Jensen show off their friendship, while an AI necklace covets yours

A fireside chat between Jensen Huang and Mark Zuckerberg at SIGGRAPH 2024 took some unexpected turns.

A fireside chat between Jensen Huang and Mark Zuckerberg at SIGGRAPH 2024 took some unexpected turns. What started as a conversation about the capabilities of Nvidia GPUs and Zuckerberg’s vision of an AI chatbot future quickly became a more casual affair — including a swap of custom-made jackets, a rare F-bomb from the Meta CEO, and a slightly unsettling anecdote about slicing tomatoes.

Reuters: Exclusive: Data provider Dun & Bradstreet explores sale, sources say

https://www.reuters.com/markets/deals/data-provider-dun-bradstreet-explores-sale-sources-say-2024-08-02/

There is a long time data company name. They were the go to in the pre-internet days.

I still prefer Bed & Breakfast though. It sounds almost the same anyways.

LOL I see what you did there.

Pretty witty.

Pretty witty or quite fishy, it depends on your perspective :)

I guess it depends upon what you are.

So perhaps different in your case and fishy is more applicable.

For the space cadets.
