It is already becoming one of the hot field especially in Data analytics and Data science . I have worked with Image recognition before to build a very simple software but it was way too complex to code .

Well the data from an image is huge. There are people who just upload most of their pictures and they tend to be easy to scrape off the internet. Thus it's fairly easy to get the data and train. Whereas text and everything else requires more work to figure things out as you require a different approach.
