I think so too, they want the world to believe Putin is a bad man and want more countries to join them in isolating Russia
The neocons have not won anything since the end of World War 2. They keep invading and waging war in their quest for global control.
They care nothing of the destruction they cause.

Yes sometimes real life is better theater than cinema.
