Patriots sign linebacker Jahlani Tavai to three-year, $15 million contract extension
The Patriots continue to take care of their own, this time agreeing to a three-year, $15 million contract extension with linebacker Jahlani Tavai, a league source confirmed Tuesday.
The deal has a maximum value of $21 million.
Tavai, who will turn 28 in September, has spent the last three years in New England, emerging as a force on defense and special teams. He had a knack for generating takeaways last season, with two forced fumbles and two interceptions. He finished with 110 tackles, behind only fellow linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley’s 114.
