Tua Tagovailoa returning as Dolphins' starter after scary concussion
Tua Tagovailoa is expected to make his return on Sunday for the Dolphins.
Coach Mike McDaniel said on Monday that the team is designating Tagovailoa to return from IR after missing the past four games with a concussion.
McDaniel said the intention was for Tagovailoa to play on Sunday, though the quarterback still has to pass concussion protocols.
According to ESPN. Tagovailoa has not had concussion symptoms for weeks.
“Our plan is to start him practicing on Wednesday, and the clearing doesn’t come until after some of the activity,” McDaniel said, per USA Today. “But we’re obviously doing so in the hope of everything going well so he can play Sunday, but that will be to be determined.”
The decision to put him or IR, and automatically sideline him for four weeks, was a safety measure to keep him from rushing back.
