Bruno Fernandes to become one of Manchester United’s highest paid players with new contract

Bruno Fernandes is set to join the highest earners at Manchester United after positive talks over a new contract.

The Portugal international is expected to extend his current deal, which expires in 2026, until 2027 with the option of a further year.

Fernandes’ previous salary was thought to be around £220,000-a-week, meaning United have offered him a significant pay rise.

It comes after the squad were forced to take a 25 per cent pay cut as a result of failing to qualify for the Champions League.

He deserved the raise, he's a great player.

If he sucked would he deserve a paycut?

Unfortunately the contracts don't allow this, but it wouldn't be bad if there was the possibility of cutting part of the salary.

I think negotiations in MLB are almost similar.

For exceptional players, a raise would be a good alternative to remaining a player, but for average or poor players, I don't think it would have the same relevance for signing a long-term contract.
