Jack Dorsey took to the Internet world yesteday talking about the need for decentralized social media and how it deserves its own protocols. Forgive me if I do not buy into his mantra but he is full of it.
Here is a video that @brianoflondon made which takes the original video and adds Hive to it. @theycallmedan did a post outlining a call to action as he stated that Dorsey was talking about Hive.
Give the video a watch to see what Dorsy is saying.
Did you see what I see? Who is he, Joe Biden? Why was he reading from a script?
Have you ever seen Charles Hoskinson, Vitalik, or even Dan Larimer reading from a script? The answer is no.
So why did Dorsey do this? Why do the other omit doing this?
To me, it comes down to passion. The ones mentioned are passionate about the decentralized platforms and do not need to be reminded of what they are saying. They know the subject matter intimately. There is no confusion on their part because they are personally involved in building decentralized protocols.
The same is true for most of us who are not coders but are commited to something like Hive. Put us on Zoom and we can talk for a few minutes about decentralization and how important it is in the social media realm.
Source
But Dorsey, he had to read what he was saying? Come on. This is a con of the highest order.
Of course, he keeps mentioning Bluesky, something first introduced a couple years ago. Yet, isn't it funny how there are no updates as to what is taking place. Even Facebook did some updating with what was going on as it pertained to Diem (Libra).
The reality is that Dorsey does not want decentralized socila media. He is not looking for open source protocols that anyone can utilize. The last thing he craves is open APIs that any front end can tap into. This goes completely what this guy is about.
He became a billionaire by building closed source systems. Twitter proved exactly what it is during the election. It matters not whether you like Trump or not, the blatent actions by Twitter show they are no different than the robber barons of a century ago. In fact, all of Big Tech falls into this cateogry.
Back in the late 1880s, early 1900s, those capitalists generated enormous wealthy by creating monopolies which meant they took in most of the money. If a company because too much of a threat, they were wiped out.
Big Tech, including Dorsey, is doing the same thing today. They turn to the government to protect them against any threat. Make no mistake, open source protocols would be a threat to not only Twitter, but the entire centralize social media system. Do you think Zuckerberg and those over at Google are going to allow that to happen?
Of course, there is Wall Street to consider in this. Does anyone believe they are going to give up the revenues that come from "surveillance capitalism" by allowing things to open up? Wall Street is very simple in what they want: profits. Leveraging user data for money is highly profitable.
Source
The inclination is to try and lure Dorsey to Hive to aid in thie fight. Here is where the problem lies: Dorsey is not interested. If he were, I would guarantee it would not be reading from a card. Plus, you do not take down the enemy by inviting him to aid in his own destruction. Few will knowingly sign up for that.
Hive has the protocols to make social media open and decentralized. What we are missing, at this time, is the applications that will truly take on the likes of Twitter and YouTube. As much as everyone wants to just on the bandwagon and promote the hell out of this to those users, the reality is we are not ready.
Those who utilize Twitter have little interest in long-form blogging. They prefer sending out a few snippets of ideas. Of course, if this is done on Hive, all hell breaks lose. In this sense, many of the applications are still long form.
Also, Hive allows posting only once every 5 minutes. That is not how Twitter people operate. Thus, believing that Hive is a replacement now for that platform is misguided.
We see the same thing on the video side. Most of the videos are still centrally stored. This creates a point of vulnerability. That will not always be the case as 3Speak is working on another solution. However, until that is fully introduced, the masses will have to wait.
For a few months I stated that Hive will be one of the first development inspired pumps. When have the tools at our disposal, we are going to see things spreading like wildifre. All the contacts people have on Twitter and YouTube will learn what we are offering. At some point, that will send the token price roaring as more people enter the ecosystem.
It will be a grass roots movement. This will not require the approval of some billionaire or a partnership with another entity. Instead, it will be people simply seeking out what they need. Hive, at that time, will be offering solutions to major problems people are experiencing.
Those in control of the Internet are not going to be the ones to take it back. It is really that simple. Dorsey, Zuckerberg, and all the rest are just like politicians: they want to maintain control and grow it. Hell, Dorsey is even reading like a politician now.
It is up to us, those who are not involved with mega-tech or VC outfits to design and utilize the protocols that will change the Internet. If we allow the same robber barons of the early 21st century to continue, we will get the same outcome.
Gates, Zuckerberg, and Dorsey are not different from Morgan, Carnegie, or Rockefeller.
Same stripes, different century.

He and the other big tech companies never wanted to answer the questions. All you need to do is watch the senate hearings where they refuse to answer things when they swear they aren't lying. They always come out with the lines saying they will get back to them with an answer later. This way they can lie about the answer afterwards with zero consequences.

Twitter is just a glorified paperboy. The people got tricked into doing all the heavy lifting distribution work that used to cost media corporations millions. Now the people just do it for free with the push of a button.
I hope someday people learn the difference between SOCIAL MEDIA and the other branch of social media that's more like Youtube. That's more like a social content creation and consumption arena. Youtube gained traction and became so popular because every piece of content on the site became an advertisment for the site the moment people began sharing it on Facebook. These days news outlets (content platforms) can't even function without something like twitter (paperboy).
Hive is not Social Media. We're not the paperboy. We're the paper. I hope someday people learn this because its really important to know the difference when you're building something. Anything Jack does now is not competition to us. He's in the distribution business. Not the production business.
We are social sources of a community, called HIVE blockchain community.

Obvious bullshit. Follow the money.
But maybe it is a good thing that he talks about it. It may raise awareness of alternatives.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Without a doubt, it is good for him to talk about. And it is vital that we position ourselves to take full advantage of it.
We can swoop in and clean up.
As I mentioned, just give us a couple more social media applications and we can say boom.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yep. This has to be capitalized on. ProjectBlank is one such application. 3Speak is another. It'll be interesting what the SEC suing Lbry will lead to. Conviction? Fines? On what grounds? How centralized is Lbry compared to Hive?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
The problem for LBRY is they had an ICO. Hive never had that.
It is one of the things that puts Hive in the clear compared to many other projects that are out there.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I see. By the way, this shows how slow the regulators are. I think LBRY had its ICO a long time ago, starting from 2016, IIRC.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Just signed up and new guy for hive through jack tweet. Feeling delighted. :)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Good job. Great to see that. Keep up the good work.

I do think Dorsey has made enough money and can diversify it away so as to not worry about centralized or decentralized social media protocol. It may still be early days for him trying to build a decentralized protocol but I don't think he can be written off for simply reading from a script. He gets bitcoin, and maybe, understands that decentralized protocols are the future. If monetary benefits from abusing private data can be replaced by a tokenized economy, then some of these tech overlords may be in the favour of tokenized economies.

100% . Alwaus enjoy reading your blogs. You are a great writer Task! Wish there were more hes in the day. Would love to spend more time on the chain, so much going on!! Hoping i am not missing the boat on anything big. Yeesh!!
Definitely sounds like he is just trying to keep people from jumping ship by dangling a carrot out in front of them. He is going to be in a world of hurt when Project Blank gets dropped. Everything he claims to have dreamed of in reality!
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
D.Buzz has used HIVE as short text blog platform, so it's definitely possible for people to transfer over to HIVE.
The answer, yes, is the attempt to make institutional media rob the power of the word 'decentralization', to co-opt it and say "LOL Twitter isn't centralized" as they moderate and censor perhaps even on the blockchain end, let alone the front end.
It's to stop themselves from being injured at the vector they are most vulnerable to bleeding, their centralization.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
How often can you post on DBuzz?
That means it is not an alternative to Twitter.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
The 5 minute posting rule is an arbitrary limitation we can and should simply remove. RC's already provide sufficient spam protection.
I'm more excited about D.Buzz when it's longform than its current form with character limitations. It will be better than Twitter, but the 5 minute delay (which I didn't know about, I just joined HIVE) isn't a big issue for me personally, but it will be for some, maybe. If editing requires a 5 minute delay, definitely, then.
Is the 5 minute delay enforced on the blockchain? If Twitter gets ahead of that and has 3 second delays instead, as I was mistakenly understanding, then there's a chance for an actually relevant space for them to enter into the scene. That is more worrisome.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
You dont need to wait 5 mins for edits. Edits can go through almost immediately.
Why would Dorsey want a decentralized platform when he built his empire on Twitter?
Obviously a decentralized social media would not produce as much profit as Twitter
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It is akin to talk by CEOs about social responsibility and environmental issues. They could give a crap. It is all lip service to appear like they stand for a cause that people are interested in. They do not.
Dorsey no more cares about this than the does about giving Trump full access to Twitter. It is just lines to appease people while Twitter keeps compiling more data on users.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
The rich centralised entity owners just wants to plagiarize and copy things they originally cannor create and of course try to make it into something no one bas heard about. Had it been we had the right marketing, Jack Dorsey would be exposed for the fraud he actually Is.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
No need to expose him. Simply destroy his empire. We need to keep building and growing. That will be the exposure he needs, Twitter collapsing.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Well people needs to know he's not the Prodigy or effigy of smartness that he often parades himself as.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
This is why decentralized system grow organically.
It takes time but when it flourishes, there is no stopping.
Decentralized has no central location, widespread.
Decentralized is owned by the people for the people.
Decentralized cannot be bought but you can join.
We decide our faith and we are already winners since 2020.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Great point.
It does take time for organic growth to take place. It also requires a lot of development, especially from scratch. When things roll out in a major way, that is when the explosion takes place.
We will see it happen. Hopefully in this quarter.

The entire idea behind bluesky is to keep him out of hot water and the backlash he got from people when banning trump as well as other key figures. Instead of just his company it's now a few companies together so no finger pointing can go to one company. It's still a group of A hold cconglomerates who don't want to give up their "power" but on the front end 90% of people wont read into it and instead think wow what a great company for doing that lol.
Also guess who owns "bluesky" and why you wouldn't want to build your app on top of it... Yeah that's right the platform would be centralized still.
No different than what Facebook did with Libra. It wasnt them per se but a bunch of their closest friends from the tech and financial world.
Nothing open source or distributed about any of it.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I totally forgot about Libra!
Yeah it is kind of dropped from the front pages.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
He couldn't have been much more rehearsed. One of the things I love about Hive is that people can say what they want without fear of being shut down. The other is the ownership by everyone who has a stake. It's almost like a part of me doesn't want those big guys coming over here because they will want to control it just like what they're doing now with the centralized platforms.
There is an agenda. If people havent realized that by now, they are completely blind.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yes @taskmaster4450le, people only see what they want to or not. So they are willingly blind. It's too bad for them.

Jack is biased and he is FOMOing right now. He doesn't want to miss the crypto Boat. But the thing is that the world is changing at a faster pace than him. He needs to unlearn if he wants to keep up. Unlearn centralisation. Unlearn control.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I am not sure he is FOMOing since he has a ton of Bitcoin and is benefiting greatly from the bull market.
I think he is trying to appease the decentralization crowd with talks of Twitter going that direction all the while, doing nothing towards that end.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
There is a good chance that he is distracted by a lot of different other dirty things he do. Looks like he doesn't have the passion to do all this.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
None of these peeps want decentralised social media it means massive profit losses. Companies are always trying to reduce operating costs and maximise profits.
This won't work on this platform, hence why NFT has been introduced into Twittsr. But whom in their right mind would spend money on a URL that you can just bookmark?
Don't be surprised if they don't arrive in droves and as a massive whales. But who knows, they might already be here?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I'm very skeptical whenever someone thinks that certain country, organisation, movement or, in this case, blockchain, could be radically transformed and improved because of the action of a single individual, no matter how charismatic, rich and powerful that individual is.
Anyone expecting Grand Savior to compensate for the lack of someone's hard work on the ground is going to experience rude awakening.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I am not sure who is making the case that blockchain would be radically transformed by the arrival of Dorsey.
That said, if Twitter, which is one of the largest social media outfits there is, was to truly decentralize, it would be big news.
Of course, few believe this is even going to be presented in reality.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Tired of Dorsey's cheer leading decentralized social media. I hate that he's outrightly ignoring hive even while claiming to want to collaborate with existing protocols. He's proven to be not a man of his words, he's made himself untrustworthy....that's his cup of tea. He can go ahead and build bluesky, hive will keep getting better.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I dont get the point of why he needs to embrace Hive.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
In his position, it would make sense to ignore it because it's still so small. Once it grows sufficiently, it would make sense to censor everything about it on Twitter.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I totally agree
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Perfectly explained, this gentleman is not at all interested in decentralization and although his blusky project may be attractive, it is only a cobra trying to deceive with its dazzling fins ready to attack with something sinister.
By the way I would like to see you on zoom talking about social networks and decentralization, I think you should organize something like this with the whole community, it would help a lot with the progress.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I am not sure I follow.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I like the fact they kinda see the writing on the wall even though they wouldn't admit it, I want them to have hive nightmares :P
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I doubt Hive is even on their radar, especially at Twitter.
The simple reality Hive is still a blogging platform when it comes to social media. There is not true Twitter alternative and 3SPeak cant offer anything really to rival YouTube at this point.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
not Hive in particular just decentralized and open sourced solutions in general. Hive nightmares would be the icing on the cake :P
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Personally I do not like communicating with people via Twitter. The restrictions were fun at first, but now it just seems super awkward to have a platform with such limited range of conversation.
That might be but a couple hundred million people a month disagree with you.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
More info why you see this.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Even now, the hive is not completely safe.
We have approximately 80 active nodes.
1 question for everyone - how much money do you need to find and block them
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
We have about 80 witness nodes, even less master nodes.
So yes more decentralization is required.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I understand that there are even fewer full nodes.
But even in the hive itself, the question of more is rarely raised. Moreover, it is still not the cheapest pleasure.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
If we didn't have Top 20 HOGS
more peeps would be witnesses...
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Practice what you preach, that's what Dorsey should learn. It's not the first time he says he wants decentralized media, but he wants the cake and eat it too. He wants his empire intact.
No worries, the days of Twitter are numbered.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That might be but at this point, it is a lot of numbers. They aren't going away overnight.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Dorsey turned Twitter into an almost media monopoly. Everyone has to get into twitter to read opinions and follow the latest news and updates as they are updated in real time there through instant tweets.
He made billions in the process. Then he killed off competition. Just look what happened to Parler - although far right was brigading it and joining en mass it didn't have nearly the numbers of Facebook and Twitter or nearly the same amount of far right posts than Facebook and Twitter - yet they killed it off the moment they sensed competition.
Things will turn even more uglier. They will try to curtail our liberties even more.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Parlor is centralized, that is the problem.
So it was vulnerable to what was taking place out there.
The way do stop it is to keep building and then surprise them. Flying under the radar is a good thing.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Parlor is a joke. People flock to centralized shit platforms like moth to a flame. It should surprise no one than Parlor would be compromised in no time.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Interesting post, I don't really believe in Dorsey's "sudden" defense of decentralized networks either, and even, I feel he acts like a big hypocrite when he appears in interviews with a blockchain accountant and talking wonders about Bitcoin. Reading your work, I started thinking about the importance of Project Blanck and the real impact that a decentralized microblogging space can offer as an alternative to the almighty Twitter. When people realize that they can monetize short-form content without fear of censorship the Twitter empire will have no choice but to take on similar economic compensation schemes if they intend to remain at the forefront in this niche.

I also noticed the blatant card reading immediately.
How could you not?
Considering we know nothing about this project he's working on it's easy to assume that it will be a complete bastardization of the values he claims to stand for.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
If it will ever come out in the first place.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Quite an antithesis, the CEO of a centralized media wanting to develop a decentralized alternative; wonder how does he feel about the concept of censorship in his project bluesky, given what's been going on in Twitter. Or maybe we don't have the same concept of decentralization... ;)
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Using comments for tweets as opposed to using top-level posts solves this issue. I believe Leo are going down that route.
I think ProjectBlank intended not to use posts at all but JSON transactions.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
If he'd wanted anything like Hive he could have done something towards that direction. He's just a puppet same as Zuckerberg. I have blocked him on twitter ever since the Trump ban. I don't expect anything about someone like him and his Bitcoin shilling is just for fame as he clearly doesn't believe in the principles of Bitcoin.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yeah, and the fact that LBRY was starting to gain traction and threaten YouTube, and now needs to answer to SEC is just a coincidence also! :)
Yep he is cut from the same cloth as Gates when Microsoft would squash or buy any competition. Just like the saying goes, "behind every great fortune lies a great crime."
This guy sounds like a total dick head. Never really followed him as he is part of the problem and centralised twitter. There is no ways he would want anything to do with decentralised social media as twitter is a prime example. A con artist with a beard.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Hive and Leofinance will be released little by little in the way you mention, colleague, simply because people will find in hive a solution to their problems. When hive has the necessary tools to achieve the goal, the game will change. People will come on their own.
