I am at the hospital to have my infusion treatment, but with so much going on at the house this week, I am not going to get much of the needed rest to manage the immediate kick in the head it gives. Illness is one of those things that none of us want, yet most of us will endure and the older we get, the more prevalent and restrictive it becomes - it is kind of like when as a youth I could drink heavily and the "hangover" was being a bit tired, whereas now it requires four days of recovery.
I have been pretty well physically smashed since I was 16 years of age, so I am used to the pains, but they don't lessen with time - they worsen. What does improve with age is the ability to cope with pain - well at least this has been the case for me. I think that part of this effect is due to maturing of understanding through experience and the lesson that even under stress, pain and less than ideal conditions, a lot can be accomplished.
I often spend a lot of time linking life to Hive, Hive to life, as I believe that Hive is a good microcosm representation of much of life in general. While it might seem far removed from reality at times, I think that the behaviors and reactions here are quite an honest indication of what goes through personal lives in the walking world, with many people potentially amplified in response (as is the way of the internet) but still being themselves, perhaps more so, as the normal checks and balances are largely removed.
I was talking about how a lot of people won't even consider crypto as a legitimate option because it is not supported by traditional institutions, which is a common mentality for many things. I remember when I was 13 and started rollerblading, my friend and I almost got into a fight with some older kids on rollerskates, because they thought it was wrong, impure in some way. These kids were "institutions" in the small town and popular. What it was that they had spent time perfecting their skill and now, their value was being eroded by innovation - and they couldn't keep up - literally as well as metaphorically. They feared their demise - and they could see the writing on the wall. Rather than adapting early, they looked to retain power through oppression. When was the last time you saw soomeone on rollerskates - that wasn't a hipster?
What people in crypto are doing now is starting a trend like rollerblading, snowboarding, small engine cars, dance music, digital photography, internet chatting and SMS - except rather than making products obsolete, we are making the entire economic system obsolete, the infrastructure system that lays beneath the surface of all other economic interactions, the transactions of supply and demand.
The institutions and governments have productized the economy and we are the customers who keep buying rollerskates, even though there are much better options out there that give us more speed, flexibility and options. Not only that, because the productization is at the infrastructure layer, we don't necessarily opt directly into the purchase, we do so through the consumer purchase decisions me make on the surface - we support them nonetheless.
Getting into crypto is a step toward structural change at the economic infrastructure level and while it is far from perfect, more participants means that it can develop at a faster rate and, the more in early, the more who will benefit at a greater level. Getting in is a hedge bet against the management of the current system, a system that has managed to support the very few being able to get extreme wealth by extracting from the very many.
While in its infancy the space looks quite infantile, this is the way industries mature and innovate, a slow progression that advances infrastructure and product development to be more effective at capturing the market. As more participants are pulled into the mix, more development happens, more goods and service businesses startup and then, it becomes an unstoppable force.
If you look at any of the industries around today, they are not single industries at all, they are an ecosystem, a collection of industries that support each other to generate wealth across them all. The problem is that the same small slice of organizations and people own the largest slice of all industries. Crypto is different however, as it can literally be created and owned by anyone. Whether"anyone" gets support is however an issue as, most will still rely on the familiar few to give them a buy signal.
One of my friends the other day was talking about how investment funds get "buy signals" from various sources and then a little later commented how Bitcoin can't ever be worth 40,000 dollars. My reply is, what happens when the investment funds get a buy signal and they decide to put in 5% of their managed fund?
The largest in the world is worth about ~6 trillion dollars, which is a full 35x greater than the current BTC market capitalization. This means that if that one fund put 5% into bitcoin, it would have to invest 300 billion dollars into crypto, which would technically triple the value from today. However, with large amounts of Bitcoin locked away and lost (~20%) and some very large holders out there, how much Bitcoin is actually available for them to buy? Then, what happens to the alts that surround Bitcoin, what happens to all the people who say, "Why take 3 or 400% increase when I can get into HIVE and take 2000%?" - that would be a price of 4 dollars from today, definitely not outrageous.
At some point this is what I see happening as investment funds will continue to struggle to get the gains necessary for their client's ROI and will look for other ways to generate income - the new economies being created being the only real candidates - as there just won't be enough generated by the already established industries - as no one has enough money to buy from them due to the terrible distribution facilitated by a broken system. They are going to have to take some risks and in so doing, bring stabilization through participation to the crypto space, making it less risky.
At least, this is my thinking and where I am hedging part of my bets as I think that crypto brings in a "bang for the buck" factor that very few investments can and, it can be actively invested into and a position extended through participation also, which is a very unique factor. While there are plenty of people who are going to slow on the uptake, the same happens for all industries, but with technology advancements, the uptake and spread is quickening and at some point, crypto participation will just be the norm, like using a mobile phone, the internet or using a car. The institutional thinkers and supporters are going to get increasingly pressured to shift their focus of energy and eventually, they will have moved over as if it was their idea.
Well, my treatment is coming to an end and I will have to head home to continue my work day with a headache, but I think that where we are headed is in the right direction, even if it isn't going as fast as we want or expect, but that is the case with everything we anticipate and look forward to - it always feels like a long journey when looking forward.

Funny it's been around for quite sometime now but you still consider it to be in its infancy, and I agree.
It'll probably progress a lot more slowly than people think and would like. As we've already seen a bit of acceptance from some govts, I predict it'll keep creeping up like that till people just get used to it without flashy headlines.
If you remember how long it went from bag phone to smartphone, the gap was about 2 decades and now, it is pretty much just improving smartphones. But, it built upon a lot of other systems to get there. How much have economies innovated and in what way? Most of it hasn't been in ways that support the endusers.

tokens.Coping with pain comes with age, I agree with you on that. Knowing you can cope better makes the pain more bearable.
I think that there will be a future when crypto might be taught in schools. I would love to see that happening. As usual, all changes are faced with adversity and a curious eye. Just when people did not think we would ever get to the Moon and those who said we will were seen as mad scientists.... Just like this it is now. Only with economy. It will be a fun ride for those who keep an open mind and shift gears when necessary.
Or perhaps it is knowing that you can survive a lot more?
It would be interesting to see it introduced in some areas and see if it makes a difference to the future path.
A bit of a rollercoaster for those who are not built for the emotional ups and downs :)

Oh I believe it will have a major influence to have kids learn crypto from an early age.
Well... There will always be ups and downs, so the best move is to learn to get better. Life is never going to be an easy ride.
It is good to remember this when we are at our lowest and how at that point, we are probably adding the most value to our experience.
Touche. I have learned the most about others and about myself from the lowest moments.

tokens.I had a best friend i lived with for the last couple years of high school that was a 'Blader!' I remember growing up with the roller skating rink being one of the hot spots as a youngster. We were in the transition of the skate, to the roller blades (for some) and then the skaters (skate boarders.) There was a lot of animosity in a similar fashion to your skate vs. blade scenario between the skaters vs bladers. Weird in my opinion, i was a street-walker... little did i know it would turn into parkour. Go figure, i made it up to mock the whole vs B.S. Anyways, he used to love Airborne! hahaha
What was their reply?

The skate rink (the recreation center all kinds of sports) was the place to be on a Saturday night. I ma from a small town where nothing much really ever happened and there was zero for young people to do - which is why rollerskaters could feel special ;D
I remember Airborne.....just.
A silent pause, and then a change of subject to the next misinformed point. People read the Financial Times and think they know what is going on in the economy.
That's like reading the New York Times and thinking you know what's going on from a neutral perspective! You should go back and revisit that old movie and get some good 'ol Americana! It may surprise you a bit. We had our skating rink called 'Mid-Cities' because it was between my hometown and the next one over! It was out in the middle of nowhere and the bladers were like the cool ones and the old school folks were the roller-skate types that were hanging on the 70's. Good times!

tokens.Great post and I'm very sorry to hear about the chronic pain and health issues you're experiencing.
I've been involved in cryptocurrency for four years and was guilty, early on, of underestimating it would take to get to mainstream adoption. In retrospect I can see how naive I was. I see a fresh batch of scammers rise up with each bull market only to leave crypto with their metaphorical tail between their legs when the bear market returns. I've noticed that the "true believers" stick around when markets tank. These are people who aren't just speculators but they have a deep appreciation for the potential of this tech to create a more equitable and decentralized world. These are people who have the ability to see ten, even twenty years into the future.
To take crypto to mainstream adoption will take the concerted effort of creatives and devs. I still see a lot of projects in the space that aren't telling their stories effectively. But's only a matter of time before more projects "get it right".
Platforms like Hive are an immense step forward. For something to be disruptive to the status quo it has to be incrementally better than what it's hoping to replace. Hive already is this...it pays you for doing what you already do on other platforms that profit from you and give you nothing. Even if you make nothing on Hive you're further ahead from a privacy perspective because Hive doesn't sell your data.
I'm so proud to have been in this space as long as I have, I feel like we're all part of a revolution. It won't change the world overnight, it's a long game. Each of us have to be an advocate for the tech. It's up to us to educate people, often one at a time, about how this can change the world for the better. Each positive conversation/experience people have in this realm help to inch mass adoption a little closer and counters negative things they've heard from unreliable sources. Anyway, sorry for the incredibly long response here I kind of got on a roll.
My wife and I roller skate and aren't hipsters. Lol
Take care, man!

tokens.I was in a little conversation with a couple of these people today - all of us held, all the way down :D
I think it will also require some professionals to come into the space, people suited to "speaking to the market". That costs money or a strong belief in the product. I am hoping that the apps to come will be so good, strong belief will follow.
I agree and it is a small step process that takes time to build it in a healthy, distributed manner. Too much hype too early, and the grassroots value gets swallowed by corporations. Good for the early adopters, but it is a hijacked movement.
I am the last person that is allowed to complain about TL:DR
Cool!
Sure... ;D

I liked the roller skate-roller blade comparison. Now roller skates are kind of like an old coin collection, they still have value to some people, and offer something the new toys do not, the nostalgia factor.
Crypto is still a pretty new system to many many people. Bitcoin may be 11 years old, but it is only recently that a large part of people may be seeing it for the first time.
The firm introduced its first small computer, the TRS–80, in 1977. (the first computer I owned TSR 80 CoCo, 1982) and Apple computers were the year before. First computer with a builtin hard drive? 1957 the size of two refrigerators.
We look at the speed of development and often over look the reality of the speed of that development or adoption.
This is something that shouldn't be underestimated and hopefully, NFTs will play a role in reconnecting people to their old loves.
For sure. I do think that crypto will be faster, but it isn't going to be fast.

I forever hope the treatment didn't knock you around too much this time, even though it seems to do you in pretty much every time. Eternal optimist ;D

tokens. This is Why you often explain hive to the lowest grassroot relatable level and the narration makes a lot of sense to even a newbie. I do believe hive and real life case can somewhat be intertwined if we look really carefully.
This is what I hope for. I am not technical by nature and tune out when it gets too technical - I guess I am not the only one :)
Yeah many people aren't technical by all means and truth is, in future we might have less technical people coming in with money to invest here without wanting the stress of the over technicalities. I'm guessing they can be easily integrated.
Most people can manage using Instagram or twitter and while the entire application ecosystem here is more complex that an individual application, many will come in at one point and then start learning and moving to others.
that's the revealing reality Taraz hmm. Thanks for taking the time to write and reply. Cheers!
My main focus is to bring more participants to our HIVE and make them to become long term HIVER.
Ps. Thank you for sharing your amazing content on Twitter.
it is going to be a bit at a time until that critical mass point is reached or, an app goes viral. I think that the beauty of it all is that we are able to try many things simultaneously without having to step on each others toes.
Have a great evening!
What are your thoughts about alternative medicine? Are you open-minded enough to try or you prefer to stick with Western Medicine? What if alternative medicine is offered at reputable Oriental Healthcare center and you're allowed to sue them in case of suspected malpractice?
I am guessing you are American? :D
No one sues anyone here for anything.
I used Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture to try and improve it for about 5 years, as the medication available at the time was not working at all. For a couple of months I got some relief, but then it stopped working completely.
Thank you for your reply. Nope. I am a Malaysian. Usually I'll refer people to reputable hospitals such as Tong Shin Hospital and International Medical University just in case people think I'm trying to scam them when I am really trying to ease their problem. I am not affiliated to any of the mention hospitals 😄
More and more I realize how far ahead of everything hive is. And those games just bananas. A game that produces an income, really...?
We are still used to the old world of things only operating based on advertisements, but here it’s all different.
We should be leveraging the differences heavily, people should hear about us, not have to find us.
Yes, the news about this should be going viral.
