I had to laugh at the irony of the seashell system favoring the coastal population. The rich people are still on the coastal areas.
I heard the reason that quarters have ridges is because they would also shave off the edge when they were made out of silver. They didn't change the design after they changed the metal.
I didn't know the dollar and gold reserves were inequal before the inception of the federal reserve.
The US dollar only seems to be worth anything because it's the reserve currency and the only reason it's still the reserve currency, besides the military, is because China is such a bad actor. It would be world suicide to give that over to them, so they're trying to rob it with their digital currency.
Great article!
My sincere apologies for missing this wonderful comment, @steveparma !
Yes, there is irony there indeed, good observation!
I'd not heard about that regarding quarters but it makes sense, lol.
Inflation has been going on a long time (since ancient China), even if reserves weren't unequal pre-fed, I've no doubt they would've found some other way to do it, haha.
Yes, USD being the global reserve currency is a huge 'shield' for it's value, but it's not invincible, and it's rapidly declining, especially with the advent of crypto, whether China ends up being involved or not.
Glad you enjoyed the article, thanks so much for your comment. Apologies again for late reply, and wishing you a great day! 🙏
It's ok. I don't remember if someone doesn't respond or anything.
