I like the guy but there seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding in Trump's statements about tariffs - he appears to genuinely think that foreign companies, not American businesses and consumers, are the ones paying these import taxes. When he talks about tariffs "bringing money in from China," it reflects a basic misconception about how tariffs actually work and who bears their cost.
Yeah.
No one really wants to face up to the fact that we either need to make more money the hard way (by selling more goods/services), spend less money (cut programs), or preferably both.
Tariffs feel good, but they just piss everybody else in the world off and lead to retaliatory behavior.
