In 1981 NBC aired the mini-series Shogun, based on the novel by James Clavell. This one is also based on the same novel, but I have no idea how it was remade for today's audience. This one seems to downplay the character Anjin-San.
I recommend watching Age of the Samurai on Netflix. A documentary/history which Shogun is based on

After that watch Samurai X live action. It's the Meiji era (beginning of the end of samurais) following the Tokugawa/Toranaga era.
