As 2020 comes to an end, let’s take a look at the data of the Polkadot network and ecology in the first year of launch~
Polkadot was launched on May 26, 2020, but the launch does not mean that Polkadot's development speed will slow down. In 2020, Polkadot added 68,778 lines of code, and the blockchain framework Substrate used to build Polkadot added 130,226 lines of code.
Part of the development belongs to Polkadot's 18 chain runtime upgrades this year, supported by Substrate's chain-free upgrade mechanism.
Of course, Polkadot is an entire development ecosystem. There are currently more than 900 GitHub repos tagged with Polkadot.
The most exciting perspective to observe the growth of the Polkadot network is to see the development of a blockchain that is ready to be connected to Polkadot. By the end of 2020, 100+ chains are ready to connect to Polkadot , and 60+ testnets have been launched .
Development depends on the assistance of infrastructure, tools, and integration. In 2020, 30+ of these products will be online and 60+ are under development.
The Polkadot Treasury supports the development of the network and the community. In 2020, 23 proposals received state treasury funding, and a total of 118,456.63 DOTs were received . At the end of 2020, Polkadot Treasury held approximately 10,205,300 DOTs .
Of course, it is not complete to watch the development of the Polkadot network without staking (secured mining). At the end of 2020, there are more than 550 validator nodes and 7,000 nominators, and more than 60% of DOTs are in staking (staked).
