They mostly check for plagiarism and for image attribution. They also REALLY don't like it if you post the same material on Hive and other platforms, even if it is original. I haven't looked at their policy recently.

There's no point antagonizing them. They can just set their account to automatically downvote everything you post until eternity and never think about it again. They lose nothing. I've seen it happen to others.

Sort:

It doesn't bother most of us. We just focus on creating original posts.

Some of the guys who have been targeted simply decline all rewards or keep posting despite the downvotes. @offgridlife, for example, admirably keeps plugging away. There was a travel writer whose username I can't remember who would decline rewards to avoid the downvote.

Philosophically, are we on Hive mainly for the uncensorability or the rewards? It's going to depend on one's priority order. If rewards come first, then play along. If censorship resistance is more important, forget about the rewards.

However, you can have both quite easily by not recycling content. It's simple enough. That's why we tolerate the Hive police.

Ha ha …. I’m certainly not here for the $$$ . I sold all my Hive near the top, bought Bitcoin, Pepe and Dogecoin … I’m just here to share links and seo backlinks to other stuff that earns passive income ….. just stacking extra Bitcoin for my great great grandkids at this point. Why not…. Also, for blogging Blurt is way more fun.
Zero downvotes, zero Censorship. Https://Blurt.blog

I think it's great you continue to post on Hive despite the setback. And you worked out an alternative way to use it without the need for rewards.

The downvotes have been a true blessing for me. I have been downvoted to zero for almost 2 years now… which resulted in me selling all my Hive to buy Bitcoin, Pepe and Dogecoin at the bottom. I also learned to buy the Hive dumps and sell when they pump… on the exchanges. Also many great arbitrage opportunities with the various exchanges. Easy to make 100% in one day. But I think Blurt solves the Hive downvoting problem for most people. See you over there too…. https://blurt.blog/@shainemata

Yes, I have an account from back in the Steemit drama. I just never felt like splitting up my attention.

They're not censoring you, just nullifying your rewards. The content is still up. This is why those other guys keep posting with zero rewards. Their priority is visibility rather than rewards.

You have to be really awful to have a front-end block your content, but that has nothing to do with the hive police. And even then, your content would still be on-chain, just not visible on the front-ends that bother.

You do have the ability to edit or rewrite. I often edit for misspellings. If you can't edit on Inleo, try another front end.

You don't have to leave.

How hard is it to post original content or give attribution to images?
