On Sunday, Filecoin developers announced the launch date of their main network. It will take place on block 148 888, which will be tentatively added on October 15.
In 2017, Filecoin attracted through ICO $ 257 million, the largest amount at that time, to develop a distributed storage network designed to become an alternative to Amazon Web Services.
Initially, it was assumed that the launch of the main network Filecoin will be in mid-2019. Since then, the project has attracted the attention of 230 start-ups and 1,000 developers who are ready to start working in its ecosystem after the release. The launch of the main network is preceded by the Space Race testing phase, in which more than 400 miners took part, and the resources amounted to more than 325 pebbles. About 3.5 million FIL tokens will be distributed among the test participants.
In the coming weeks the project intends to continue to add resources for storage, optimize operations, conduct final testing and provide the community with the opportunity to prepare their own systems.
Earlier it became known that Chinese miners threaten to conduct Filecoin fork due to dissatisfaction with the reward system.
