It's Time To Play A Game

Just some days ago I created a post detailing how to trade for Moon Kart Packs (Alpha Centauri Packs). Since I don't have my Race Car tuned up perfectly yet I was in no rush to purchase some packs. What I decided to do instead was place up a buy order on TribalDex. Some days later (Today) I head to TribalDex half expecting to see a pack or two in my account. The other half of me was expecting to see someone over-bid me. It was the second option that came to fruition. Which is 100% ok and easily amended.

Can I OutSmart The Market Bot?

So I cancel my order (increase it) place it back up and then go grab myself a nice cold glass of H20. I come back to my computer screen that still had TribalDex loaded and low and behold BOOM out-bid again. I'm sure some of you reading this know what I'm about to get at. There was/is a market bot in the CENTAURI pack trade market. RentMoney does not like bots. I understand their need and even the help they give to bring trade volume but non-the-less I do not like them. I have 0 issues with those who run them, giver; I wish you much profit but if I notice one in a market that I'm in you can bet I'm going to mess with it. And that is what I'm about to do to this one. Sit back, grab yourself a nice cold glass of H20 just as I have sitting next to me and get ready to enjoy the show. In this post we show the downside of running a bot.

Increasing CENTAURI Packs Trade Value

The sell side of the trades is at 7.35 Hive Tokens per Moon Kart Pack (I know they are called CENTAURI but I like calling them Moon Kart Packs) . There will be a screenshot at the end of this post displaying such which will also display a much higher min Buy Order. Buckle up here we go! Watch what happens when I out-bid the highest Buy Order price of 4.500. I'll place a bid of 5 and almost instantly the market-bot will adjust their price to out bid me by the smallest of margins.

Results Of The First Increase

What you are seeing above under the first Buy Order list is where I placed an order for ONE Moon Kart Pack at a value of 5 Hive. Next to that image is a second Buy Order that shows the market-bot canceled their previous 3 Pack Order and re-positioned themselves at the top of the Buy Order. I would just like to reiterate that there is nothing wrong with someone running such a bot. Its not all that uncommon to see such in markets. So why is RentMoney doing this? Did I mention I don't like bots. Oh I did, ok then but aside from that; just like there is nothing wrong with running a bot in such markets there is also nothing wrong with running one up. We can't just let those bots run a muck freely. Lets up the cost again. This time I'll set a buy order at 5.5 Hive Tokens. I wonder how far up I can push this bot before it quits.

Lets Continue The Fun

Well look what we have here. It looks like the bot is losing its confidence. It once again outbid me by 0.00000001 per pack but this time only placed an order for 2 packs. I didn't remove my previous purchase order so the 2 one pack buy orders that are listed for 5.000 and 5.500 are mine. Directly under my orders is an order for ten packs at the price of 4.500 Hive Tokens each. I'm not done yet; lets keep pushing forward. This time I'll place an order for one pack at 6 Hive Tokens. Les see if the marketbot has the gonads to continue. Will it lower its purchase to one pack, two again. I doubt we see an increase. There's only way to find out. Here we go (again).

The Knockout Blow

For a moment there I thought the bot wasn't going to show up. I almost started to declare my victory for having the highest bid but just as I started to type BAM the bot showed up for more. I been tossing out jabs up to this point. It's time to land an over hand right. As I noted the highest sell order is 7.35. How close can we get the bot to that? Can we take it all the way to seven? Something tells me that might be pushing my luck. Lets go for 6.5 and see what happens. I haven't removed any of my buy orders. All the one pack orders you see are mine. The orders below mine have not moved up or down.

The Bot Isn't Done Yet!

I'm not going to lie I thought for sure the bot was losing its nerve but it showed up to the dance with its dress on and grin to boot. As you can see by the above screenshot the bot has once again outbid me by 0.00000001 per pack. With the sell orders being at 7.35 and my order being at 6.5 that don't leave much room for profits (if that is what the bot is after). Meaning I'm slightly shocked the bot outbid me this go around. Lets increase the pressure. Our next bid will be 6.75. That only leaves a 0.60 gap between the buy and sell orders. Is that cutting it too close for the bot? Before doing so I will also remove the two 6 and 6.5 orders I have placed to see if that makes any difference in the bots decision. Lets see what happens.

Victory Is Mine

After moving two of my bid orders and increasing my max bid order to 6.75 the bot did adjust its price point. Not upwards but downwards. We can see the bot has an order for two packs at the trade value of 5.5 Hive Tokens each. Which so happens to be just above one of my purchase orders. That just won't do so lets once again increase the value of these packs to 6.5 Hive tokens each. Since I fully intend on purchasing a pack regardless I'll just leave my order there. I also own the two pack purchase order at 4.5 and the three pack purchase order at 3.0001. I'm sure this battle isn't over but for now I claim victory.
