Today I log in to my Splinterlands account to play some ranked play but before I start my battles I notice my DEC balance has increased by over 70,000 DEC. I don't remember listing any cards for sale recently so I go to trusty ol' PeakMonsters to view my latest Splinterlands transactions. I come to find out my Alpha LOD has sold for $398.99 USD. This isn't a gold foil/ No it isn't a leveled up card. Its base level one Alpha Legendary.
On the surface that looks like allot of money for a one BCX card that is not gold foil. Heck it looks like allot of money for any NFT card. When Splinterlands first launched and all us OG Players first invested it was a time when there was no game play, just NFT's and a promise of a game. I bet none of us could of imagined back then that a LEVEL ONE None Gold Foil would sell for so much. What is even more insane is I think @version1 has gotten a great deal here and will likely profit nicely from the purchase. Lets take a look at the current Alpha LOD that are for sale and see what they are listed for.
As you can see above the lowest price Level One Alpha LOD will currently cost $900 USD. So congrats to @version1 the LOD you have purchased from me just 14 hours ago has already over doubled in value. For the big spenders out there the best deal on a LOD is currently $313 USD Per BCX if you purchase a MAX Level version. Max level Alpha Legendary cards contain 8 Level One's. This means the total cost would be $2,500 USD. There's only one MAX LOD available at this price and its being sold by @winteradvent. It will be interesting to see if/when it sells.

The cheapest BETA LOD per BCX would be the Max version of the card. It is currently selling for $200 USD per BCX. This Brings the total cost of the Max BETA version LOD to $2,198.40 USD. Beta Max versions need 11 BCX to be created. The one that sold in the opening post is a Level One BETA version that sold for $398.99 USD not an Alpha version like originally reported.

According to prices on the market, LOD alphas go for higher prices, it seems to me that what you sold was the LOD beta, might want to check again

Well this is embarrassing. You are 100% correct, the LOD I sold was a BETA not an ALPHA. Which (for me) makes the sale even more interesting. Thanks for pointing that out. Congratulations on a great sale! I am so curious to see what direction the market will take for these Alphas and Betas when the Chaos Legion is finally released. To be honest I'm toying with the idea of selling a few Alphas so I can buy more CL packs.
I'm both excited and slightly wondering if I should be selling my collection. Its possible that we are in for a big drop in overal USD value for Alpha/BETA but the opposite could happen as well. Hopefully the land introduction will favor "old" cards over new.

Aggy talked about that some in the Mavericks AMA on Monday. If I understood correctly, a max level gold foil Alpha Legendary would give a bigger production boost to a plot than a max level golf foil Untamed Legendary. But every time he would say something like that he would also say nothing is set in stone until the Whitepaper is released.
Hopefully he doesn't forgot about BETA. It seems as BETA gets left out sometimes. BETA bonus for ranked play was promised over a year ago and still isn't implemented. I don't see any Beta+ X tournaments.
That's right! I had forgot about the Beta bonus for ranked play. It's been so long since it was discussed I doubt that it's even on the development schedule. Since a big portion of my cards are Beta, that would be a big boost in their value even if it was just to rent them out.

Nice sale! It's wild seeing these cards spike in value. I pulled a golden Yodin Zaku last summer and when I took a break from Hive/stopped playing, I sold it for like $350. Needless to say I was sad as hell when I saw it was selling for $4k+ a few days ago :[
$350 for an NFT is still a nice amount to get. I don't think anyone expected this amount of growth so quickly.

Oh, I definitely agree, especially since I've literally only purchased like 11 or 12 packs ever - it was an incredible pull and very few were in existence at the time! Still walked away a happy camper, it's just funny how much things can change in a year.
