Why Do You Want What You Want?

Have you ever asked yourself this question? So few days ago one of my friends was on TikTok watching a wristwatch showcasing trend where people were flexing their wristwatches, showing their group and how fly they are. My friend looked at me and said, we should get a Rolex and flex it like these guys, I looked at him like? Bro why? So I should start having the thoughts of getting a Rolex watch that I can’t afford so that I can flex on the internet to people who don’t know me or care about me? So I asked him before watching this video, have you ever had an independent thought of getting a watch before? He said No, I was like so why put yourself under such pressure, we both know he can’t afford it.

Now this says a lot about us and why most of us get depressed and put so much pressure on ourselves when we want something badly, we want them badly because we have been dependently been focused on wanting it by the internet. It makes so much sense when you genuinely want something because you want to and can afford it. Imagine being at a place in your life where having a car is a necessity and you can afford to have a car, you won’t put yourself under so much pressure.

But here you are on your bed or sitting on your couch, wishing you had a Lamborghini, because you saw on TikTok that a 19 year old has one. Now you want a Lamborghini because you saw it on social media.

Sort:

I want a Lamborgotti Fasterossa, but mostly because I need it.

But yeah, if you feel you "need" to buy a super expensive timepiece to signal wealth you don't actually have, it probably means you have to work out some issues and get your priorities straight before they get you into trouble.

A lot of people don't know this, just wanting things based on indirect influence.
