I think I'd be OK with that. I can create value for others and receive value in return (value-for-value) and I can earn more $HIVE and/or $HBD or spend it in real life at any establishment that accepts Bitcoin over Lightning.

I'd be OK if it remains niche forever.

I'd also be very happy if its use took off.

How would you feel?

Feels good man. Feels that it will continue to be niche as it has not be on exchanges with the main coins as much. However if Hive found itself linked to something in the field of education at some point this could lead too many younger users. So I lean towards remaining niche with a possibility of more use.

The blockchain is super useful as a business backend. Two ideas come to mind:

  • More games like Splinterlands
  • Remittances. This continues to be a huge market in Latin American countries where people often leave to the United States and wire dollars back home using outdated remittance services like Western Union.

I wouldn't mind if HIVE stayed niche for the social aspect but I think it has huge potential as backend solution for business. I agree that education might be another industry.

More games like Splinterlands

Frog Battle game coming soon!

Remittances

Agreed! Bitshares was heading in this direction with BitSpark, or some other name.
