I grew up using "dude " as a way to refer to young boys at my age at that time. , now I prefer using the word "men " for people in my age range and also older than me , using dude for an elderly person looks weird to me
As you've put the term out there, my brain was trying to make connections to where I've heard it before. And it reminded me of a song by Aerosmith entitled Dude (Looks Like a Lady).
