Are any of you manual voters out there using your stake to "influence" content rankings, or are you simply supporting what you enjoy while thinking others might do the same, leading to organic trending posts... ?

Sort:

I just support the content and people that I enjoy for the most part.

Yup. Totally normal. Requires no special training. And that means one can focus on their craft and attract their attention, never having to begin their content with "Hello Hive" ever again, creating broader appeal.

I support what I enjoy

Feels natural, right? Then whatever happens, happens. You did your part.
We've been "selling" the stake as "influence" rather than support, since 2016. Automatically, that concept sets up the average consumer to feel powerless IMO.

yeah. the old Hive world of thinking about things. I just try to ignore.
It has failed.
I agreed you should "support" those that you enjoy.

That is why I try to say if you want to support us. upvote or purchase a QUST item.

or post about our projects to spread the word

Here I am thinking after all these years, studying it as best I can, finding things that seem out of place or dysfunctional... thinking I could contribute to improving the place as a result. Is it time to just laugh at myself and give up?

nah, you could make a difference here. It’s always impossible to measure the difference you are making but I see my footprint at hive and it’s not massive but it’s not insignificant at least

When I'd post, I'd be able to deliver a message in a way that got people thinking, so they say. That approach came with a stigma attached, where the message is also lost, because some think you're just saying it for personal gain.

I fell flat on my face every time I tried to make a difference. Eventually I started trying to be everything I wanted to be and do everything I wanted to do to the extent that my reality would allow regardless of outcome. And it seems this had a much bigger on the world around me as well. Hive lessons applied to life

No you can improve things, just focus on supporting your community everything else will take care of itself.

It just seems like some of the solutions are simple enough and would contribute to more finding success rather than failing/struggling so often, then leaving. Similar to talking to a wall though it seems. Thanks for the advice.

I usually support posts from people who I think are undervalued at hive or who bring their best, whatever that is.

I've seen and heard of this approach. People bringing their best, I understand, and that's an easy call to make. "Undervalued". I'm familiar with your true meaning. Others might hear "You're not appreciated by majority and need help."

Personally I upvote what I enjoy.
For #freecompliments, I upvote the tag while giving higher upvotes when a thread is linked to #freecompliments and/or has higher quality

Seems to be what's coming naturally to many. Curating or attempting influence doesn't work naturally for most anyway, plus you're up against thousands of autovotes. But everyone knows what leaving a tip is.

I completely agree. A lot of votes are autovotes. That's what I like about threads, so far I got a feeling most votes are cast manually. (Will probably change as it becomes more mature I guess)
#freecompliments

Threads are just comments under a post we can't see when using this frontend. I'm actually on peakd right now. Autovoting threads would be a disaster.

I completely agree. Autovotes on comments / threads wouldn't be a good thing! Thanks for the conversation! :D
#freecompliments

We upvote what we deem to be quality posts on a sliding scale.

We focus on posts which use the following tags prioritized as indicated by the following list:

#sbt
#splinterlands
#spt
#pgm
#pepe
#dailydook

Our default vote weight for threads are 5% and 20% for posts but as stated above we use a sliding scale based upon content quality. Currently 95% of our voting is done manually.

Looking to delegate? We will take it!

#sbt #curation #voting #hivepower #HP

Sorry, no. Not interested in delegating. You're free to buy some HP if your goal is to support content. You still own that money, and can support content at no cost.

Thank you for your suggestion to buy more HIVE. WE have been supporting content on HIVE and Steem as well as supporting charities on this blockchain for many years through voting, giveaways, delegations, monetary donations, ad infinitum.

Maybe not as this account, but this ain't our first rodeo my friend.

There is a cost. It is called the amount of time spent on supporting HIVE and its members. I understand if you did not want to delegate. That is fine. The snide comment about buying HIVE, we could have done without.

Have a nice week.

What I said wasn't snide at all. I'm not interested. And provided an option for you. Keep in mind I don't know you, so it's impossible for me to know what you know. My words were merely a suggestion.

Sorry. Took it the wrong way. Have a nice week.
