This actually plays out in a number of ways psychologically too and especially with regards to Crypto and other trading and in fact anything that doesn't involve cold hard cash!
Our brains are tricked into imagining there is no worth to crypto as its just numbers on a screen and even more so as it appears to us to be unrelated to actual finance. The same techniques are used by casinos, that's why we play with chips and not cash!
