Mbappé has informed PSG that he will leave the club, says newspaper.
French forward Kylian Mbappé has announced to PSG management that he intends to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, in June this year, when the striker's contract expires.
The information comes from the French broadcaster RMC Sport. Agreements for his departure have not yet been fully defined.
According to the newspaper Le Parisien, the athlete's salary is 72 million euros per season. In June of last year, Mbappé had already chosen not to activate the contract renewal clause until 2025. The situation caused discomfort with the management, who did not want the striker to leave the club for free after the end of the contract.
The club then pressured the Frenchman to either be sold or to renew his contract and even went as far as to keep the player away from team training sessions.
"We cannot let one of the best football players in the world leave for free. If Kylian wants to continue with us, as we want him to, he will have to sign a new contract," said Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG.
At the moment, Mbappé can sign a pre-contract with any club, as there are less than six months left on his contract with the French club.
The 25-year-old athlete joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, on loan from Monaco, the club with which he won a French Championship (2016/17). In 2018, the Parisian team bought the forward outright.
With PSG, he has won five editions of Ligue 1 (the French national tournament), three French Cups, two French League Cups, three French Super Cups, as well as being the champion of the 2018 World Cup and the UEFA Nations League with the national team.
Possible suitors
The 25-year-old forward has long been a target for Real Madrid. However, the English press has also reported that Chelsea and Liverpool are monitoring the situation of the French forward.
On the other hand, Spanish newspapers have reported that the Madrid team is considering presenting the same offer that was previously rejected by Kylian. The offer guarantees 26 million euros (R$ 140 million) net per season, in addition to 130 million euros (R$ 698 million) in contract signing bonuses.
